HELP!! doner car regestering?

Featured Replies

i have 2 mk1 golf convertibles..

one is an f reg 1.8 gti and is pretty knackered..

the other is a late spec (1991) 1.8 digifant sportline and is mint..

i own the f reg no problems..

the sportline however i bought off a german chap who drove it over to this country.. it has no logbook and no numberplates.. and i dont know what they are..

i have converted it to right hand drive and was wondering how i go about registering the chassis to the f registration plates? is it as simple as putting the new chassis number on my v5 and sending it off?

any help appreciated..

Unfortunatly not, that's called ringing and is a majorly criminal offense.

You need to register the German car to these shores. Your best bet is to give the DVLA a ring and have a cheat.

you can "re-shell" cars though where if you keep enough of the original parts the car keeps it's identity. But there's a fairly good chance if the car is modified as well that you'll either have to put it on a Q plate or simply wont be allowed to do it. The fact the donor vehicle doesn't exist in the UK and you've modified it complicates matters though. Like yeti said, you need to phone the DVLA.
