are solenoids worth the hassle

Featured Replies

Ok guys just a quick question, no one answered my last post so I hope this one is more successful!

I am looking to smooth off my doors on my mk4 6n polo and I wanted to remove my door handles smooth them off and fit solenoids poppers but is it worth it?

Where is the best place to fit the switch and is it a big job?

Would it be better to just change the handles and by one of them £10 de-lock kits off ebay that just remove the lock and cover with a blank piece of plastic or does anyone know of any Audi or other vw handles that will go on and look and operate well?

Give me your feedback guys please.

I think its a good idea but isnt exactly practicle if they was to ever break, i remember my dad telling me he had them on his Lotus cortina and they eventually stopped working and he had to dismantle them.

as said above a pig to get into your car if they break, or if your battery goes then you are very stuffed... I've heard people extending the cables from the battery so you can charge from the outside...

de locking hte best way is getting hold of the rear handles from a 5 door, they come delocked and looks better... not a hard job either.

cool guys, thanks for the replies, forget solenoids then lol. I'm up for delocking but does anyone know if i could cut and shut some handles from another car lucky for me I'm good friends with a bodyshop that are happy to try anything with or without knowledge of if it will work. what do you guys think will look good ??

heres a pic of my polo too as you can see its gonna have a respray once my eyebrows, bumper and dents are removed but this was a custom built polo by ultimate velocity. What would you do to change it?

 thats the biggest spoiler I've ever seen on a polo :o

Must add 20hp!

Sorry... couldnt help myself its not to my tastes but thats why you own it and not me, have a look for ones that are flat smooth with the body and you tuck your hand under to open, they look good and get the bump strips off, i would look for different tail lights and head lamps some darker ones would give it more of a mean look that might fit in with the theme of the car

remove the bump strips and the large bit of scrap metal on the boot..

What would you do to change it?

seconded!

haha poor lad. sorry I'm just not a body kit man, i'll leave that for the chavvy corsa's and saxo's but i like the fact youve put effort into your car

Ha Ha i think I'm in the wrong polo club, i bet you lot are all veedubs with split rims and 'standard' bodykits eh?

the bumper strips are coming off anyway. thats being smoothed when my new front bumper arrives and my bonnet gets its eyebrows welded, then the rear lights and car are being sprayed the same colour.

Oh and the spoiler is here to stay !!!

thats what keeps my massive huge gigantic fuel guzzling 1.4 engine from taking off! Also with my twin wide exhaust it sounds like a jet taking off!!!

Funny you gus are not a big fan il get my picture up of my standard golf gti soon, you can tell me what you think of that.

the golf gti sounds promising :D get some piccis up dude :p

Them body kits suit corsas not polo sorry i dont like it tbh

i think u should take off the bodykit and spolier and rims and anythin else uve done

then put standard 1.4l polo parts on with some standard steels on and then spray it pistachio green

ud b onto a winner then

Come on guys, admit it, 10 years ago you would have had drool hanging from your lips at a picture of that car! I certainly would have done back when I was 12.

(its off to the panel beater and sprayer soon to get a few bits sorted so il post some pics in a seperate post soon) 8-)
