Webber DTMR jets? can't find two of them

Featured Replies

MY car is an 89 Mk2 square 1272cc MH engine

I have had the four jets unscrewed/cleaned on the top which I know account for 6 of them and they are standard for a DTMR (cheers Labougie) but where are the other two? or are they staring me in the face?

I think these are the two jets:-

AIR 155 (primary)

AIR 185 (secondary)

Cheers

The four brass things you're looking at from the top of the carb are (left to right) 1/ Secondary idle 2/ Secondary main 3/ Primary main and 4/ Primary idle. When you unscrew the idle jets you'll find a short tube, and the idle jet itself is a press fit into the very bottom of that tube. Around the rim of the idle jet you'll see (magnifying glass if your eyes are anything like mine!) probably 45 for the primary and 70 for the secondary. Put them back before you mix them up, and the same for what follows. Unscrew the primary main jet (3/). It's a longer tube, and comprises three parts: 1/ the tube itself, which is called the emulsion tube. This will (magnifying glass again) have (probably) f22 stamped on it. 2/ The air corrector jet (at the top of the tube, stamped 155). This again is a push fit on to the emulsion tube. It's a GOOD push fit - you may need a pair of pliers to seperate the tube from the jet but BE GENTLE. 3/ The other part (at the bottom of the tube) is the main jet, stamped probably 100 or 105, which is another push fit into the emulsion tube. Same rules apply re gentle. Once you've seperated them, you'll see that each of the jets whether air or main have a cross cut across the barrel which you can (VERY GENTLY) crimp together with pliers or prize apart with a knife blade to make sure they're a good push fit when you put them back together. Secondary main is constructed the same way as the primary. Hope this makes sense. Pm me if you want more.

Thanks for that, I'll take a print out of you've written into the workshop and figure it out.

I've had what I think a few blockages(car not smooth idling), going by the grime in my new fuel filter I'm wary of whats going into the carb along with the fact that it might have grime in there somewhere..

Much appreciated :)
