answers to some questions.

its very easy to fit, i can do it in 2 minutes. unscrew plastic panel cover, then ecu is visible then 2 cable plugs to pull out from ecu unit. then ecu is pulled out from retaining clips, then swapped over with other ecu and re plugged in etc.

the imobilizer chip is provided as it is matched to the ecu. this can just be put on you key ring for it to work.

there is no change with the speedo/instrument unit, it is unrelated to the ECU your dials display the same milage as on standard ecu.

you can notice a change to the engine note throughout the rev range and more willingness to accelerate through the gears.

the ecu has been fitted with a Powerchip installed by Collins Performance, they have a website if you wish to enquire about it with them.

i had it tested myself on a rolling road by performance specialists (Richards Bros Ltd), over 3 runs its output was 133bhp and 116lbft torque, or 108bhp at the wheels, i have the printout to show this. a noticeable improvement over standard (123bhp/125ps). 12bhp is the maximum gain Powerchips claim for this map, each car/engine varies so you might not get this much. i would guess at the minimum being 5bhp gain.

the buyer will also need your transponder box and aerial to make the connection of the chip to the ecu.

Sorry to jump on your thread, awesome price...wish i had the cash.

are you sure?, when i put in an ECU from another gti in order to sell this one i just got VW to do all the software adjustments for the car to function, i didnt need any other parts just the ECU itself. and to get the remapped one working again back in my car after the change i just used the original key i kept for it that i didnt get vw to change.

just in case though, i will have to say then you may need to ask VW to configure the ECU to your car using their plugin computer system.
