Featured Replies

Been chasing the parts for my G40 which I ordered from VW yesterday. Told dunno when it will be in call back in 2 days and we may have a date for you. But it'll be at least 10 days till its here.

So decided to make a call to a dealer in germany. Guess what, The parts will be on the front counter tomorrow morning and will be sent out to me direct in the mornings post.

What a joke!

But hay what do you expect from the uk

cheers fella, i'll try and explain what it is to the german nurse at work then get her to call em!!

If you have a part number just get her to give that to them.

i have another 7 days wait for my foglight holders...........................

i don't mate and have serious issues trying to explain which part it is to them!

the main water pipe which runs across the back of the block and bolts behind the water pump? i only need the piddly gasket!!! sounds simple enough to me? doubt it's even specific g40 probably the same on all the small blocks of that year (92)!!

just buy a tube of gasket sealant from a motor factors, generally works better than the stock gasket anyway.

yea but i renewed everything else and just want this piddly little gasket so as soon as my internals turn up i can bolt it all together and fit it in to the 6n2, if this stupid gasket holds me up i'll go mad!!

anyone got any gasket paper???

sounds propper poo that, herd loads of bad stuff about dealer parts departments.....

the water pipe gasket is wrong on etka as a g40 is essentially a mk2 lump not mk3 - apparently they were all built in 1988 with the mk2 g40

Wasnt beadles was it?

no tps

london south east T.P.S.???

I thought TPS was strictly trade?

parts departsments arent all bad u just have 2 catch then on the right day

tps = Trade Parts Specialists lol

they prob wouldnt turn u away

Our trade parts dept. has just started turning people away as they are too busy to deal with small inquiries. Only thing I've never managed to get is the seal for the rear window on my Coupe, it's on back order though so it might never come. Just going to source one else where. Other than that though I never have to wait long for parts, just depends if they are coming from the UK or Germany.

This is my point though. I have to phone back Thursday to see if they can tell me when 2 spacer bushes for mounting the alternator are going to arrive or if they will ever turn up. Yet 5 min on the phone to main dealer in germany sees them on there counter the following morning and out to me on the same day so at worst i'll have them by fri/sat.

VW uk must have a delivery at least once a week from germany. So surely they can say (for example) ok next shipment is wed and its been ordered for that shipment will be with us by fri. Not I dunno phone back in a couple of days we might have some news for you then. I feel sorry for people who can't afford more than one car and they have to wait best part of 2 weeks at best for back order items. I know a mk3 polo is getting on but i never have any trouble getting bit for my 1968 beetle.

i ring up my main dealer - say 'hello john few small bits' he says 'alright pete, give me part numbers and i'll get em asap for you'!!!

spend enough time there and you get to know em

My local TPS division is legendary :-D

Please guys don't get me wrong its not TPS's fault, My gripe is at VW uk more than anyone.

we get a delivery from germany everyday, as long as you order the parts before 2.30pm

Mine too...............always there to lend a hand & answer the tinest of queries!!!!!

I love you TPS!!!!!

so why couldn't my local TPS have got the bits sooner? I've proved that the item I'm after is in germany. so why is the uk out cast and unable to get the stuff people need the next day from germany like you do?

Unsure on that!, what T.P.S. was it? london south east in dartford?
