about time, looks like the closest one for me is in brum, if i can afford the fuel i'll probably go to it, any body fancy a convoy from nuneaton/bedworth kinda area? other wise i'll end up getting lost

Having said that, looks like the price of a barrel of oil is on the way down today!!!

I will certainly be going to one of them.. never been to protest before so if I'm ever gonna go to one then I think it should be this one.

I've also emailed the bloke to offer a hand and hopefully see if we can organise one for this neck of the woods too (Hampshire).. hopefully even Southampton :)

Money has to come from somewhere,but billions are spent on corruption and waste. In 1993 i was paying 47p a litre. 10 years later? 77p a litre. Fine. 5 more years - 1.14p! Thats not acceptable. I'll head north to Brum,too.

I have. Problem with the 22nd of June is that its GTi International. I'm at a charity event,starring a friend,on the saturday,so i could only go to GTi-I on the sunday. Still,cost of fuel and all that.. So if MK,Nuneaton,anyone else on the A5 is heading up,its an idea for a slow convoy.

think of it this way, if you go out to buy some kind of consumable ite, for example a tv or something, you go to the first place get a price then maybe go another 2 places to get the cheapest price. if the price still isnt what you want to pay you'll simply do with what you have now and not bother till the prices drop a litte.... this is something you want rather than need.

petrol, you'll keep an eye out on prices and go to the cheapest option be it shell, bp, ads, tescos.... but wherever you go youl WILL buy petrol, because if you dont then you'll run out, not be able to get to work, not get the shopping, not pick the kids up from school....this is a necessity that without people simply wouldnt be able to live their lives as they do now

this is why protests wont work because no matter what we still NEED petrol and diesel so we'll still pay for it, even if the cheapest price is £1.25 or whatever!

the trouble is, the cost of fuel will go up as said... the trouble is wages dont reflect this... wages dont go up as cos of living increases, well, not for me anyway... thats where it all gets fucked up...

if wages reflected the increase in cost of living (interest rates, fuel increases by %), I'm sure there wouldn't be half as much of an issue... but no-one will do that now, will they?

i read in the papper that the treasury has raked in an extra 200 million since it went up by 2 p

Yup its all to do with cost of living...if wages went up to match then that'd be great, but because costs are going up, companies are having to cut down on things, such as wages, so they put wages up but not near enough to cover cost of living...

thats why the housing market is going down the pan

Ultimately, petrol heads are doomed. Even if the gvt is forced to drop fuel duty, oil will tend to get more and more expensive until the last drop is gone.

We've already seen the start of "The Great 21st Century Oil Wars" in the Middle East. These will increase in number and frequency until there's not much of anything left.

It's not just a consumer issue, although I applaud people's willingness to demonstrate and take action. In this case i'm afraid, it will be quite useless.

Thats not the sort of attitude we need dude! Unfortuntately the majority of the british public also have the "fuck it, it's not gonna change no matter what I do" attitude. Well thats just defeatism in my opinion!

At least sign the petition dude.. it only takes a minute to do and there's no harm in trying is there?

Good luck to them I say. Hopefully more and more protests might be enough to get the government to cancel the proposed 2p tax hike in a couple of months time.
