FUEL PROTESTS, All over the country...

Featured Replies

Having a protest wont do anything at all!!!

think of it this way, if you go out to buy some kind of consumable ite, for example a tv or something, you go to the first place get a price then maybe go another 2 places to get the cheapest price. if the price still isnt what you want to pay you'll simply do with what you have now and not bother till the prices drop a litte.... this is something you want rather than need.

petrol, you'll keep an eye out on prices and go to the cheapest option be it shell, bp, ads, tescos.... but wherever you go youl WILL buy petrol, because if you dont then you'll run out, not be able to get to work, not get the shopping, not pick the kids up from school....this is a necessity that without people simply wouldnt be able to live their lives as they do now

this is why protests wont work because no matter what we still NEED petrol and diesel so we'll still pay for it, even if the cheapest price is £1.25 or whatever!

That’s not the point in these protests. The point is to show the government that enough people care, which hopefully results in them doing something about it like reducing the stupid amount of tax on it. That’s how a democratic society works.

i would do one but am at inters!!!! am realli fed up of this country robbing us for everything...so tempted to leave...

Legalise certain drugs and tax them, thats the answer

rohypnol? :paranoid:

Lol thats why i said certain drugs. If all were legalised the country would fall to bits

i would make the effort and go to this but due to high petrol prices I'm getting laid off at the end of the month so i cant really be wasting money on over priced petrol to drive to a protest that imo probably wont have much effect.

Ultimately, petrol heads are doomed. Even if the gvt is forced to drop fuel duty, oil will tend to get more and more expensive until the last drop is gone.

We've already seen the start of "The Great 21st Century Oil Wars" in the Middle East. These will increase in number and frequency until there's not much of anything left.

It's not just a consumer issue, although I applaud people's willingness to demonstrate and take action. In this case i'm afraid, it will be quite useless.

I agree, these days the price we see isn't so much due to tax but due to the price of crude oil. A few years ago I remember shock about it going over $50/barrel and now it's well over $100/barrel, that's why the pump price has gone up so much recently. The real problem is that the oil will run out and then we're all buggered - car users or not.

I'm no economist or politician but even if they did knock a couple of pence tax off it would soon be added back on by the oil companies as we've seen in recent months.

The amount of tax we pay on fuel has been rising at a higher rate than the cost of oil due to the 'fuel escalator'. I think we now pay something like 82p tax on the litre of fuel!!

Its a complete pisstake. On the night where my local garage put their prices up from 112.9 to 114.9, the prices of a barrel of oil dropped below $130 again. They are profiteering and it should be, nay, IS illegal for them to do it. But hey, the country is run by these people so who cares if what the petrol companies are doing is morally ethically and legally wrong.

Fuel prices are pretty serious now, even the most economic cars cost a fortune to run

Big respect to people running 6+cylinder vehicles, lol

Duno if this has been mentioned as I'm haven't read the whole topic but next weekend lorries are supposed to be blocking the motorway from cheshire to carnforth...or so I've heard...so avoid m6 north lol

I have a feeling if you use veg oil* in your car, you're supposed to pay the duty on it anyway!?!

Honestly, I wouldn't mind getting taxed if they just spent the money on anything useful. :-(

*maybe you could lubricate the sheep with it instead?

i won't tell them if you don't?

It's legal up to a certain amount. 4000 litres rings a bell but could be wildly wrong.

your inviting a stranger off the internet to sleep at your house, knowing that he wants to rape sheep?
