Problem with that is that every time you see a JDM fronted Integra you'll get that horrible feeling in your stomach as you know you should have bought on of those instead.

No way would i spend four grand on a modern car,made from junk over-recycled materials,that's gonna be worth nothing in two years. I'm happy with my tidy 4-seater but if i had to get a safe family car id buy an immaculate,low mile early '89-'93 Merc 190 1.8. Given that they weigh less than a 3dr BMW Mini Cooper,were the best-built small saloon of their time,and wont depreciate,its a no-brainer.

Mate ...... credit crunch = rainy day , keep the cash in the bank and wait untill the sun is shining again. Alternativley pick up a bargin from some poor sole who overstreached themselves on a morgage / car loan and offer them cash for there car at about 60% of market value ......... then the sun shines for you, your happy, the other dude is happy because he fended the bailifs of for a month or two ......... everyones a winner .

Probably pick up a Renaultsport Clio 172/182 for £4k on ebay, thats what i'd go for

just as an example, i got my Polo GTI 1.6 6N2 for £4k last Aug, including all optional extra's - 18,000 miles on the clock - 51 plate, completly mint too, not scratches, dents etc think i was kinda lucky though to be honest..... i'm getting around 40mpg out of mine although my tax is £90 for 6months. other than that, i'm 20 in a months time and my insurance is £800

decisions decisions thanks for the help guys i took a 3 hour drive to look at the gti above, obviosly my version of immaculate wasnt his lol

106 Rallye S2, much cooler than a GTi.

^^ they look exacly the same but have less comforts and are slower. if i was guna get a rallye id get an s1 1.3 100bhp ftw

Less comforts = less weight to lug around = not as slow as you think. They might not be as quick in a straight line but round the twisties they can be as fast if not faster than a GTi, as was made apparent at yesterdays track day. I think the Rallye looks better, nicer colours and the steel wheels give it a proper sporting look...more so than a GTi badge. I'm not sure I could hack an S1 on looks alone...plus 100bhp 1.3 doesn't leave much scope for fettling fun.
