I went to halfords for paint for my 1995 white 1.4 polo could'nt find paint code lad promised it was candy white off i went and repaired bumper respayed it along with grill andsplitter it dont match the day before cleethopes modified what a disaster. anyone kno correct number please

candy white, BUT yes halfords paints seem too creamy ( the cans I've used) , all the ones I've used have been anyway and the code is LB9A but dont use halfords get it mixed properly

I got my yellow paint mixed up by halford in a spray can and in a paint pot with a brush thing, the colour match was really really good. Especially for touching up stone chips, blended in nicely.

Maybe it was mixed wrong?

Do they not have a policy where they will match it exactly? even so i'd take it back and complain its not the right colour, they may turn round and tell you where to go, but then again they may just mix you up another batch.

The guy doing it was probably shit. Come down to Halfords Swansea and I'll get it right for you.

In future get the proper stuff from a VW garage. ALL off-the-shelf halfrauds paint has a shit match.

just remember there are variations of colours when i do repairs i find the colour code but then have to use colour chips to get the right variation (different batches will vary slightly when mixed at the factory)

the key to painting is blending into the surrounding areas as it's impossible to get a perfect paint match and the older the paint the more it changes

halfords stuff is weird - i got a rattle can of canyon red and it was a perfect match, but i bet if i got the same one again it wouldnt be. I've known people to get cans that come out a completely different different colour. just gotta be lucky i guess!

I work for halfords - never buy the stuff off the shelf - always get a can made up! And make sure who ever is making knows how to do it right!

^^ you have alot of faith in your stuff my loal doesent mix paints. wish they did as i need my custom petrol cap spraying and its obviously visible and i cant get a decent match with a can so I'm going to have to wait until it goes in the bodyshop :(

repaired my bumper with halfolrds off the shelf stuff and they told me to use the wrong primer so it was too dark.. lots of paint stipper later, tried it again and its ok but a totaly different texture to the rest of the bumper.

dont think theres any other option on a budget tho

I've painted 3 mk3 polo half colour coded bumpers with Halfords stuff - along with a set of big bumpers for my GTD and i've made some today to sort out the bad marks and stone chips on my Valver while I'm on holiday!

iv herd bad things bout halfords paint too.

Also the "touch up" pens which dnt even match, my brother has a silver clio (2005) had stonechips on the bumper used one of the touch up pens and the colour was realli off and my best mates dad has bmw (57 plate) had stone chips on the bonnet and the colour of the touch up pen didnt even match. Both of these times they found the correct colour code and matchin colour but both times the colour match was completely off.
