Hopefully gonna be getting most of my bits for the front end next week..Before i did i was just wondering if anyone could shed any light at all on this job,basically i dont want to get all the stuff toghethor and realise theres no way itll go on.I know there will be bits of messing to do but essentially it should almost be bolt oof bolt on shouldnt it?? Any help would be great guys..Cheers.

its been done to mine... had problems modifying the front slam panel.. otherwise it sends vibrations through the whole car.. steering wheel still shakes and once, my headunit fell out becaus of the shakes :S heres a few pics though:

why was it shaking is there any chance you can get an underbonnet shot of bolts e.t.c, hmm shaking doesent sound good but i cant see it being because of a front swop

basically to get it fixed i needed a 6n2 front slam panel, but need it modified to fit the existing radiator etc.. I've had done.. so the cars fine... but once the radiator goes and the fan starts rotating theres a slight vibration through the car.

the car should be at gti international if you want a closer look

I've pretty much got a whole front end lined off a mullered one near mine...I'm gonna get all this on for inters so will be rocking a silver front end..Do all the panels line up besides the slam panel..What sort of modding did the slam panel need as i can get a mk5 one if needed.

yeah thats my cousins car... that should be at FCS, on the same weekend as inters! hes still got a long way to go though...

what else you want to know fella? the mk4 rad bolts into the mk5 front panel, as does the mk4 fan.

the plug for you fan and rad/fan switch can be left alone as you'll be using mk4 bits, the headlight plugs will have to be removed from the mk5 as they have a different pin pattern, there are the same amount of wires so you can just solder the plugs from the mk5 onto the mk4 loom.

rad position and hoses are the same so thats not an issue, front inner wings appear to be the same so wings should bolt across no probs.

the only noticeable structural difference in the front end is the end/flat plates on the front end of the chassis legs are deeper or longer, they go further down towards the floor not that that should be an issue.

i have a mk4 with the front panel removed and will be popping the front of my mk5 when i get home (depending on weather) i can offer the mk5 front panel up to the mk4 body and get some pics if you like mate?

if theres anything else i can help you with give me a shout, if you want pics i'll have to text them to you tho so i'll need a mobile number.

its not as simple as a bolt on bolt off job... the bodyshop where it was done, told me that they had to overcome quite a few obstacles.. getting it all to fit... but i dont know of all the details.. the end product does look good though..

That must happen right from the word go then due to how you have almost totally blocked up the front? Overheated much?

I've got it sorted now neways... so its ok!

what are you planning on doing with the rear rich? just leavingt he std valver one on? or are you smoothingt he rub strip off the front to make it lok abit more subtle and to blend in with the sides/rear?

yeah will be smoothing the front one,,,just having problems sorcing some bits tbh..plus I'm gonna have to get the car done again as the previous bodyshop were fucking pants and did more harm than good on the respray.
