Whats involved in this process? What do I need to fill out etc and does it cost anything?

I've got an email from the DVLA somewhere regarding this. I'll try and dig it out.

You only need to fill out the relavent changes on the blue section on the V5 like new engine number, cylinder capacity, fuel type etc. You may need further proof if you down size the cc which might affect the road tax banding.

iirc from the email, i had to have a proof of purchase of the engine from the seller or garage. something like that anyway. As i didnt have any of this as the engine was in the car when i got it, i just forgot about it!

I had an accident and nothing was said about the engine but i guess i was just lucky.
