well I been a wee bit busy over the last few months, and thought id update you guys on what I've been doing to the G40 since I've had it

just got my new bonnet back from the bodyshop...the old one was covered in stone chips and rusty underneath, so it needed changing.

also fitted my freshly refurbed bbs not long ago with brand new rubber :-D

also I've replaced the front discs with brembo max discs and changed the pads all round...quite inpressed with discs to be honest alot better than the original ones...seems to stop abit sooner now

managed to find myself a brand new 'polo g40' badge aswell...payed a small fortune for it but its worth it as my old one was worn.

gave the engine bay a good scrub too, it took me a full day but it was worth it..even though my back was killing me after , just think it needs a few things polished up to finish it off...which i'll be getting done shortly

so after fitting all my new bits I decided the outside needed a good scrub too, so I bought myself a clay bar kit and a buffer from halfords to get the paint work up to match the newly painted bonnet, so its had a clay bar...a layer of polish...and a good wax so here a few pics after a good buffing up :-D

Looks lovely, can't knock a nice tidy G40. The only thing I would change is the door handle protectors, just for some black one so they fit in more with the black/red theme of the car.

yeh I'm getting round to changing the armour door plates, it was originally gona tie in with the rest of the car but I then changed my mind styling wise and decided to keep it looking original, I've got a spare set anyway which i'll probably either spray black or red :-D

The engine bay paintwork looks really mint, just look at the bulkhead and inner wings/chassis legs! Even the wiring loom looks unmolested.

With a bit of detailing to the engine itself, it would be stunning.

yeh the engine bays come up really well was supprised myself at just how fresh the paint was underneath all the dirt, the engine bay is on my next 'to do' list, gona get a few things polished up like the rocker cover and dizzy cover, already got some new wire loom wrap tape on order from vw to tidy all the wires up :-D

You thought about changing the orange indicators/repeaters for updated clear items? Some people dig the orange, but I think the clear's make a good deal of difference

Brill, glad to see you are still looking after it! It couldnt have gone to a better home. Are you coming to Tatton again this year? Have you seen the thread on Club G40 about the peaks rally first, would be good to have you along.

the black thing behind the drivers light is a g40 air scoop!
