I'm well confused with what the fook your up to anyway, the wheels are going on the gtd/ arent you sticking the gtd in that shell?

right one last time just for saf...

THE GTD ENGINE IS GOING IN THE GREY MK2 SHELL THATS BEEN REPEATEDLY POSTED IN THIS THREAD, EVERY THING I AM DOING IN THIS THREAD IS BEING DONE TO THE GREY (SOON TO BE GTD), ALTHOUGH SOME THINGS ARE BEING TRIALED ON MY BLACK GTI.

i hope that clears up the confusion safron

let me know when your down this way so i know to keep my kids where you can't get hold of them

today i've mostly been waiting for the rain to fuck off

at around 4.30 i decided enough is enough and got stuck in any way. took about 3 hours to get the sub frame and every thing attached to it out of the 16v, and the GTD sub frame fitted to it. heres some random pics of the progress.

update time.

today was a shit one, i was hoping to get most of this sorted today and have it ready for the engine to go in, but thanks to some prick on the design team at vw that wasn't meant to be. instead i spent most of the day fucking about removing bits from another golf (dash board and steering column, plus fucking about with the ignition) and replacing them with bits from mine.

i had a lot of hassle off the wiring loom as well, even though the loom was from the gtd so it should of just been plug and play i still wasted a piss load of time trying to figour out where loose wires went to, (i hate wiring  ), but i did eventully get some stuff done, heres a few random pictures.

i got home from work today and decided to go on a one man wreaking spree, the result was i fitted the engine single handed and with nothing more than a jack, 2 slabs and a front shock

heres some pics of the days progress although i didn't get many pics of the engine fitting as the battery's went in the camera and by the time the misses got back from the shop i had got most of it done :-(

i've tried and failed to get it running but looking back now i think i may have put the fuel pipes on the wrong way around which would explain alot tbh

theres still a fair bit to do (including a new CV joint :-( ), tidy the wiring up and lots of other shit, but its getting there.

but thanks to some prick on the design team at vw that wasn't meant to be.

great progress but that sentence ^^^^^ made me laugh ha ha

works looking good lad, your a dynamo when fuelled up with stella. keep up the good work and i know the feeling of an ever expanding list of work to do.

are you rocking the black bonnet on the grey un, and did you manage to get rid of the red shell now

very good progress dude!

stella is the key to sorting any problem. and yeah i'm rocking the matt black bonnet on the grey car (theres a few other matt bits to go on as well, plus thinking of a boosh motiff on the bonnet). and yeah the red shell has gone now, ended up with a couple of pikeys with a still saw cutting it up. god bless picky twats.

have you got much left of the gti you were breaking? theres some bits and bobs i need, was yours a late or early spec btw?

and now an update...

today was spent trying to get the car running (turns out i didn't realise you had to bleed the fuel system on a diesel  ). then spent a shit load of time trying to refit the down pipe (i think that prick from the vw design team rearerd his head again), but after that things moved on well, heres a few pics...

2007_0706pics0002.jpg

it don't show up too well, but that funny looking thing in the fog light is the indicator bulb (looks a shit load bettter in the flesh), i tried fitting a rear bumper on the front to get rid of the indicator and number plate recess, but it was too wide so now i have to fill it and texture paint it as planed.

rest of the pics speak for themselfs...

2007_0706pics0004.jpg

i doubt the back box will stay, had it running today with nothing after the turbo and it wasn't too bad so i might just hook up a straight though pipe to a side exit.

i did a bit more today, mainly just general tidying up and fitting door cards and shit, heres a few pics but they are hardly exiting tbh.

2007_0706pics0024.jpg

i sprayed the arch trim matt black (well most of it i ran out of spray after doing most of it)

2007_0706pics0020.jpg

2007_0706pics0014.jpg

i also fitted all the trim to it, the fronts don't stick out too far tbh, the rears do poke out a bit more but hay hoe

2007_0706pics0018.jpg

2007_0706pics0016.jpg

then i was distracted by this (probably chasing kids on mopeds)

2007_0706pics0013.jpg

tidied up the bay a bit and stole the alloy washer bottle off the 16v

2007_0706pics0011.jpg

2007_0706pics0010.jpg

a few few random pics

had it running today and it seems fine, there was a load inconsistent noise (which could be felt though the whole car), ran it for a few mins and it went and seems fine now. over the next week i hope to get a rear break pipe off that been giving me shit and get the breaks working, hook up the speedo and tidy dash board wiring, fit exhurst and then i think its ready for the mot 8-)

Now there's something y'see everyday!

so today i had to go pick a drive shaft up for it, while i was at it i tried playing with the camber on the front (cheers toby for the heads up on that), so now i have one wheel thats legal (no tread sticking out) heres a pic

2007_0713pics0003.jpg

2007_0713pics0008.jpg

much better than before, gonna look into camber shims for the rears as well so they should be legal as well (hopefully  ).

most of the stuff today was stuff you can't see like sorting the breaks and power steering and the drive shaft, but today was the first time it drove under its own power so i was well chuffed.

i also fitted the steering wheel from the 16v

2007_0713pics0005.jpg

and just a few random pics i took today

2007_0713pics0010.jpg

2007_0713pics0007.jpg

it finally sunk in today that i need to start thinking about selling the 16v so i can get the coilovers for this, so if any body wants a low millage 16v golf let me know ;)

Thats an awesome car dude! Well done! Bet it feels damn good to actually be driving it?
