due to it pissing it down most of the day i've had a lot of time to work on the front bumper, heres the finished bumper

i've always wanted to do a step by step guide about some shit, so heres one of how to smooth a front bumper, pikey style

started with a bumper. i left the indicator in so i had some thing to work on (much cheaper than getting it plastic welded )

i keyed up the indicator lens and the 4 sides in the recess where i will be filling.

i then screwed some wood screws in for added support (i made sure all of the screws would be coverd by the filler.

then i filled it with fiber glass filler making sure it didn't come right to the top so i didn't have to sand this tough shit down.

then it was time for a break

once it was set i filled over it with p38

once it was set i sanded it down, there were a few holes and gaps uncovered at this point so i repeated the process a couple of times it i was satisfied.

then i masked up the 2 strips above and billow, and sprayed over the filllerd area with textured paint .

there was no point in painting the whole bumper in it as most of it was textured any way, plus i found it hard to get a decent finish with it and it kept blocking the nozal up

all that was left the was to treat the whole thing with a dose of my old friend...

job done

i had a little go at this to start with but its way too wide (mk2's have a fat ass ), i briefly thought about just cutting some out of it to shrink it a bit but that just seemed like a lot of hassle just to loose the indicators. if i was after a full smoothed bumper i would definitely go down this route tho. would look good and as it has a good solid metal backing to it (just use the original front backing) to hold it strong so the filler wouldn't have to take any of the weight.
