Hi people,

Being a lazy bastad myself i have bought a sand blaster to run off my compressor. I bought some kiln dried sand to use (thinking it would do the job) but it doesnt appear course enough for my needs (cleaning rust and old paint from rear beams, brake calipers etc)

I cant find anything more abrasive to use in it. Anyone have any suggestions what i can use and the kind of place i can source it? It cant be too expensive as i use will go through it like no ones business..

Micro glass beads are what I use at work for removing paint/rust with the minimal of surface distortion.

Don't know where we get it from but I can find out for you if nobody else knows.

One thing I'll say right now is if you are using sand please make sure your compressor has a good water disperser!

water disperser, not sure it does. Why is that anyways?

If you could find out where you guys get it from then that would be handy!!

It makes sure the air going through the lines is dry, the last thing you want is the sand getting damp in the gun as it turns to clay!

Yeah I'm with you. dont have one yet but i shall be investing in one and a filter anyways cos i will be spraying with it in the not so distance future.

Looked into those micro beads and i have a funny feeling that they are too expensive for disposable use, more designed for cabinet use.
