Thanks guys, means a lot to hear you some really positive stuff about the ol' Geeroy. Ian's hit the nail on the head about the way the car is an expression of my personality, this is where my creative, artistic and mechanical energy goes. I've not done this for myself. I don't think people should mod cars for other people. I've taken this things I like from the different VW scenes and used them.

the sun visor is painted, and the brackets are polished and lacquered still needs, the good old 'U' shaped chrome trim I bought putting round the edge and it also needs t-cutting to get it looking bling once its hardened, should look good once its on:

Bit of a Marmite colour, better than boring old satin black or grey though.

Future mods:

- OE home brew delocked boot handle (to be plastic welded and painted satin black)

- Boot Spoiler to be painted Satin Black

- Drivers mirror shell to be painted Satin Black

- Home brew mirror blank on passenger side

- Scirocco Rear wiper (to be drilled, polished and laquered):

DSC02008.jpg

- Gold GTI calipers, CL carriers and 5mm spacers

- Brown Interior

- False floor with red wood slats

- Wood vinyl trimmed interior boot trim

- Bastuck exhaust tip welded upwards/outwards to Powerflow single pipe backbox

- 8x13 classics at the rear (colour coded or brown)

- 5deg rear camber blocks

- Top fill radiator painted gold with brown side and chrome/polished cap

- Renault 5 washer tank in scuttle

- Coil relocated to scuttle

- Chrome painted washer jets

- Wood vinyl trimmed scuttle cover

- Polished 'charger, inlet manifold, decat pipe, throttle body, boost elbow, rocker cover with welded boost outlets,

- Gold fan cowling, brown fan, polished fan motor

- Brown boost pipes

- Silicone hose and Weber trumpet on boost elbow

- Rally Design coilover kit

- Polished Exhaust system

- Hide engine bay wiring and clutter

- Red rear clusters

- Woodrim steering wheel and chrome boss

- Taylored/VW floor mats

- TT pedal covers

- Chrome wind deflectors

- Home brew redwood rear window blind

The list goes on!

Brown is a good touch but I've gotta be really careful where I use it - it could easily look naff!

its your car at the end of the day..i still think its wicked though...

I know man, I used the brackets from our old dining table to attach it so I might get something better made up in the future, your right it doesn't sit flush enough but it'll do for now.

I used rattle cans yea but I think I've changed my mind on the brown, think I might use wood vinyl instead. Bit or a trial and error mod this one!

Mate, you need to make me on too! I'm dead serious and I'll pay what ever you want within reason obviously.

Also while we're on the subject of making shit up, would you be able to make some brackets for this visor based on the ones on your visor? Its just mine sits too high and too vertical, it needs to come down and back a bit?

Cheers Jimmy!

Jimmy B, you do know that those sun visors are designed for vehicles with a top speed of 50mph don't you?

I love old beetles, thats were my inspiration comes from. I love old VW but I prefer the Watercooled scene at the mo. Didn't know those visors had a topspeed! I'll have to change that like I did with the roofrack lolz. Yea I've got loads of stuff going on with it and the Rocco at the mo!

Stay Tuned!

i dont get it, looks crap!!! :paranoid:

Why, because you don't like it?

James has done exactly what he wants with his car, love it or hate it, you have to respect him for the high quality of all the mods he has done to it.

So many people seem to build cars, whether consciously or not, that all look very much the same, so it's refreshing to see someone ignore what anyone says and does their own thing. I personally think that Jimmy B, nice guy though he is, is very much misguided in many of his styling ideas (he once suggested a hideous 2 tone colour scheme for my Loon ), and the Rocco boot rack , but you have to respect him for his originality.

Oh, and it's def not rat, if you had to class it as anything, it's got to be be Cal Look. 8-)

I don't think I can get the bit's to make another one to be honest , I nicked a fire extinguisher ,a lamp shade , a load of dexion shelf brackets and the cover of a lathe motor to make it  The only tools you'll need to make one though is an angle grinder and a welder . If I get the woody ready for BVF then I'll show you what to do ;)

I'll have a look at the brackets on the visor for you mate :)

This car is class, I don't think what you've done is overkill because of the styling. I was complementing someone just there for having no stickers but with your car it's the whole "I've driven route 66" feel that I love.

The scirocco is taking shape too, great stuff..

woooooow! now that is trick! swee dude, love this car. good luck with it

Gwon then Jimmy, why didn't you use a popper for the boot lock??? I'm loving the idea on that boot latch, kinda late VW OE+

  • Author

Because hoppy that would be too easy.

I like that boot lock relocation nice touch.

Because hoppy that would be too easy.

Haha, class answer

I really like that boot catch as an alternative to a popper, no chance of any electrical faults either :-D

Looking good Jimmy 8-)
