The government could so easily take the price of petrol down to below the £1 a litre mark again if they just cut the tax a little bit. There is no way they would be out of pocket either.

They shouldn't tax things that we rely on and have to buy so highly. I'd understand if they put up the tax on alcohol, cigarettes, stuff like that that no one really needs to be able to survive and maintain their standard of living.

If I don't have petrol then I can't get to work, If I can't get to work I won't earn money, If I don't earn money I'll be on the dole and costing the government money, and have no money like I do now.

Anyone heard what happenned in a garage in Gorton the other day, apparantly selling petrol at 129.9p a litre but had it advertised as 115.9 on the boards. spotted by the 'manchester evening news newspaper' the company accused the paper got it wrong but they had a receipt to prove. They apologised and said they would slash 1p of every litre for the rest of the week ooooooohh and said that customers who were overcharged at the weekend would be refunded the difference if they have a valid receipt, i never get the receipt, just pay and get off.

This country is a load of shit nowadays. I'm currently looking into converting my car to run on biodiesel.

You dont need to convert a car to run on biodiesel. Thats the whole point of biodiesel.

You need to convert it to run on 100% straight veg oil, but you can run it on 50% diesel 50% veg oil as it is now. Well in the summer anyway, in winter you have to go down to like 20% veg / 80% diesel.

Also, was reading that if there was no tax on fuel in the EU countries, we would be the cheapest. However, after each countries government has added their tax, ours is the dearest diesel in europe. So basically this country can buy fuel cheaper than any other but the govt put so much tax on its actually the dearest.

Are we not the only EU country that has it's own oilfields? I genuinely don't know... hence asking. Can't remember if Denmark/Sweden etc are part of the EU or not.
