I got road raged today! because I was driving a lowered car and had to slow down for speed bumps! How stupid is that, the guy was behind me for like 3 bumps and he ended up on the wrong side of the road overtaking me on the speed bumps on the wrong side of a traffic island too.

Guess that's fiesta drivers for you though?

Anyone else been a victim because of their lowness?

I have had people beep me before when going into a supermarket or something, i have told people to get stuffed many times - i sometimes go slower when they start beeping.

A funny story, when me and my bro were in his fiesta we got stuck in a car wash cos it was so low  they had to stop everything and have us and the people behind reverse back out

loads of people get annoyed when you go slow over speed bumps, just grin and bear it cos its them getting vexed at the end of the day not you.

and surely you should have no problem with speed bumps considering a small ethopian child could get lost under your sills

Where was the rage? I do it myself, yet can only think 'what a prat' as i laugh at them. Its perfectly legal to pass a vehicle on a speed ramp, unless markings say otherwise, and just because some PVW-inspired fool has lost the plot and made their car almost undriveable on real roads, why should i have to sit there waiting for them? So i'll overtake. And i'll laugh at them. And i'll enjoy it.

I love it when people get angry when I'm pootling over speedbumps. They start getting cross, I go slower. Let's be honest, what can they do? If they decide to overtake, fine. If they think physical violence is the answer, you've got their Reg No.

arnt speed bumps there to make you go slow in the first place ...

Just because your car is low dosent mena you are a " PVW-inspired fool "

Cars look cool dropped on there arse in my eyes 8-)

Blah iff it takes ages to get over speedbumps or you have to avoid them .

LMAO, yep I've had some rite beeps and shouting and serious over taking while going slow over speed bumps. lol. Just makes me laugh.

Kind of a similar story... I was stuck behind a tractor going really slow the otherday. When i got a chance to overtake him i did then sat at a slower speed than he was already doing the old git was nearly spittin turnips. I also kind of aggree with MIKEYMK but if its a dub i would usually just sit behind and have a gander at it but i have also overtaken other drivers going stupidly slow over bumps in an un-lowered car.

lol its funny.

To be honest, people with standard suspension should still take it easy over speed bumps as they do majorly fuck up your suspension

i had some tit in a celica nearly run into the back of me several times down a long stretch of road with speed bumps yesterday evening, he was a good hundred metres behind me t begn wit then he was sat on my bumper....speeding in a built up area is not cool!

WTF Why? Thats what tractors do.

My car isnt lowered but I still go over them slowly too, if other people want to knacker thier cars its nothing to do with me.

You're a prick.

I don't mind people going slow over speed bumps, unless they're going so slow a snail can outrun them.

lol

on way to work there is a 60mph road and some people drive down it at 40 and it pisses me off so i over take them.

then once they get into the village there are loads of speed bumps!

so i have the last laugh! as they are stuck behind me crawling over the bumps

Nothin beta than slowin down for the speed bump watching the person behind (usually in a corsa with huge wheels and a rage can) get angryer and angryer then jst plant it awa fi them after the bumps!

road rage is all the rage these days. doesn't matter what you do really.

i dont really get annoyed by this anymore, i usually stick my hazards on an pull over to the left if theres somebody behind me, gives them the option of waiting or overtaking, and lets me tackle the bump nice an calmly without having a road raged knob bombing up my ass as i try to get over as quickly as possible

I left myself open to misunderstanding, there. For one,sleeping-policemen/speed-ramps are there to keep traffic a sensible flow - not fluctuate it. Its more sensible to take one at 15mph than 1mph. Secondly,i only ever overtake when its safe to do so,and dont wish to damage my car, which is also lowered. Thirdly,by PVW fools,I'm talking unsuitable in the real world - though i did make this one clear.

Theres some idiots in this thread and on the roads in general.

MikeyMK, how fast do you need to go over speed ramps? Seriously, your SUPPOSED to go slowly over them... You probly only save about a minute off your journey time at the most and you knacker your suspension for that?

You say you like laughing at all the "prats" in their lowered cars? LOL. Your the prat. I see impatient people like you all the time. I'm driving down a road doing like 60 or whatever the limit is, and some impatient idiot, in a bmw or similar usually, sits rite up my arse (dangerous) and then hammers past me at 80+ mph (usually in a totally unsuitable place for overtaking) and disappears round the corner. Then, about 5 minutes later, i pull up to a set of lights and whaddaya know, there they are. Happens all the time.

If your following a lowered car and its going slowly over the bumps, and you overtake it, its only gonna pull up behind you at the end of the street.

The miniscule amount of time that you save driving like a knob isnt worth the extra fuel it uses, most times you dont actually get there any faster.

Tomadomeit or whatever the fuck your name is, you do know that the max speed of a tractor is like 25 dont you? And if it has a heavy load on the back its like 15?

Edited by forde

I could probably drive my Escort over most lowered Polos and I still do about 2 mph over speed bumps but that's because I'm scared it will break.

And yeah... tomedomeit... You do seem like a bit of a dick.

Forde,I've driven circa half million miles in the last 17 years, and thats pretty basic stuff you're telling me about. Being a multi-drop driver in the past, town driving is nothing new. I'll not repeat myself,as you're not reading. But i dont need a lecture on people who break the speed limit driving BMW's,as i do neither.

tomedomeit...why? Tractors are driven mostly by farmers who have a job to do to servive and you held one up just because he held you up? If you have ever driven a tractor you will know they don't go fast at all, they are built for pulling things not for racing round country lanes. I'd call you a dick if you did that to me!

Back on topic of lowered cars however. I've driven all my cars slowly over speedbumps...lowered or not. Since I've set my coilies up to a sort of drivable position yet still being extremely low I can get over most speedbumps with little or no scraps. But I still take them slow. The government take enough money from me. I'm not gonna keep giving them more VAT by buying a new set of coilies ever year!

Tom,you ought drive a tractor for a day. I have, though not on public roads, and whilst its not clever to play with other traffic, its downright disrespectful to do so when they're already doing their best to keep the traffic flowing to a suitable degree behind them.

That was an example. You said you would plough on past someone who was going a bit slower than you, but if you have been driving for so long you should know that they will just pull up behind you at the end of the street. Whats the point, then?

Anyway, even in a car lowered to the bag like mine, your going to take a speedbump at like 5mph. The max i would take one at in a standard height car would be about 15 mph. So the difference in speed is negligible, and the lowered car will do the same speed as you between the bumps. So you make all this fuss about going 10 mph faster for about 20 metres (if you add up the length of all the speed bumps on the road).
