how long is a tom tom one supposed to hold a charge

i can finish a journey with a full battery and 2 days later it will be flat and need plugging in again !

about two hours unplugged:)

the batteries are the same as ipods in a way.

keep them as highly charged as possible often as possible. lithium ion batteries dont like to be drained:-(

Mine is shit for holding charge too, i just leave it plugged in mostly. I find it very good tho, most sat navs have shit coverage of n.i. and the tomtom is great for it, knows all the wee random lanes in the middle of nowhere and everything, and the way it has fuel stations and b and b's on it and all is good.

used to have to call you guys all the time when i worked at halfords thankfully you all delt with the ones we couldnt fix just by reseting them lol took qte long though sometimes

i was gonna say my tomtom one will work for two hours unplugged but what i meant was it seems to have next to no standby time on it.

Funniest thing was that I borrowed a Tom Tom. It didn't recharge overnight off the computer's USB cable, (I think because the computer was OFF or in sleep mode), and my Mk2 doesn't have a cigarette lighter socket, so it couldn't recharge during the journey.

I could read the map book from the interior light, though!

Following day I rested the charger tip on the battery positive terminal, and wedged it in a spanner resting on the bulkhead for 25 minutes. That gave at least enough charge to get me out of Bristol avoiding the ikea sale.

Is there a solar powered satnav ?

But, what I really want to know, is how do you replace the voice instructions with your own recording ?

I just sent one back on Monday for a software update because "I dont have a computer" to Katherine in Amsterdam???

Just used one for a jaunt from Milton Keynes to Taunton and back - never,never again. The only reason it didnt go out the window is because it wasnt mine,it caused us nothing but chaos,stressed us all out,and it'd have taken half the time if we'd just gone the obvious way by map.

i think best way for a journey is to plan it by map and go the way you would think is best by looking at the map as a whole and knowledge and use a sat nav if you ever actually get lost and don't know where you on realtion to the map...

well thats what i do anyway :biggrin:

I generally set a route, have a look at how it's doing it, see if I like it, and if not, use the "travel via" option. I use one day in day out for work and have never had a problem with it, except for a dropped signal in the city of London between the towerblocks.
