how does it usually work regarding to the payment of it?

if its by cheque would most private sellers allow it to be taken away when the cheque is handed over or when the cheque is cleared or does it depend on what the seller is feeling like?

i pay cash. if selling the cash has to be cleared bore i let the vehicle go

i dont think many people would let their car go before a cheque has cleared, would be fuckin stupid if they did.

its because at the moment my polo is playing up and the whole time I've had it my idea was to have it as a daily runaround until i could afford to buy a newer car

but now the time has come where i can afford a new car and the polo is playing up so i wanted to buy a car tomorrow by cheque and drive it away the same day and get dug into the polo instead of having to suffer the torture of a pooburg

I generally deal in cash. The £20's and £50's appearing generally helps the price come down :)

I'll never forget the look on the bloke's face when I was buying the van and he said "When would you be looking at tbuying it?" and I got a roll of £50's out and said "Tonight if the price is right"

i agree nothing makes someone knock another £100 off like the promise of a big wad of twenties!

You can use the old line, il give you this much, cos its all the money i have on me, when its less than they are asking!

Otherwise, if its cheque you will likely have to wait til it clears, unless you go to the bank and get a bankers draft cheque- its garanteed so its as good as cash, and a lot safer than carrying a stack of notes around

Cheque has to clear before you can drive the car away unless it's a dealer and he's feeling nice, some dealers will take a credit card.

You can take cash, banker's draft or building society cheque as these are all cleared funds. BD needs to be ordered from the bank.
