Women who "know" about cars

Featured Replies

What does everyone think about women who know stuff about cars and can work on them etc?

Is it cool or is it a bit "butch"

I was just thinking, I couldn't imagine myself having a conversation about the hassles of having to convert to a cable shifter on my Golf in order to use a better stronger gearbox... to a woman.

But there are one or two women on here, who know more than most of the guys.

So what would you do if you were out on the lash, started chatting up some bird, and she then started talking about her Polo which is down 120mm on coilovers with 14x8 RSL cults with 195/45-14s and she fitted it all herself?

I suppose the one bonus is that at the same time as washing up and cooking they can do oil changes too...

I think it's cool in a way. But knowing too much about cars is a bit nerdy imo whether you are a boy or girl

surely you mean unless your in the trade

I loike it

I've met a few girls now who like to get their hands dirty, 90% have been pretty hot :unibrow:

Plus, if youre going out for a nice evening, and you have a problem with the car, and the girl knows her stuff then she can give you a hand and the problem can be sorted in half the time, rather than just sitting there fecking tutting saying shit like "is it nearly done?" and "why didnt you get a nice new car" arrrgggh (i had a bad experience  )

Isnt this a bit like guys who like going shopping??

I dont know too much about cars, but i know i can hold a decent enough conversation...and i always find out what car a guy drives lol. But saying that I'm just not strong enough for hard manual work so i still need to call a man for assisstance with my car lol.

I'm yet to speak to a gal that really knows about cars, though I know a few that have a strong casual interest.

I'm yet to speak to a gal............

thats it. owww :crybaby:

theres plenty of lassies who are into cars in the exact same way we are, I've met a fair few, most of my mates are petrolheads in some way or form, two of me best mates charlie and sally on here have owned probably about 50 dubs between them and both are more than willing to get stuck in.

i remember when me and chazbot went to pick up dennis, it had been standing for about 7 years and i just sorta looked at it, and kinda scratched my head! charlie opened her boot with and uber load of spares, nufty rotor arms, leads, spares, jerry can, tools and got stuck straight in.

it was then that i realised i could do alot more on a car than i previously thought as its not actually that hard, i just needed to see someone in action i spose to realise that

and chicks that can work on cars is hot, cos you can share a passion and hobby, and like walsh says saves bitching when your shed breaks down, cos you can make them work on the car while you skin up :D:lol:

hahahahaha, poor toby, we cant imagine you chatting to a lady either

Women are ALWAYS cool unless there not of course. Duhhh!

And for that refreshing quote of intelligence you win 1 mushy banana

you can make them work on the car while you skin up :D:lol:

Bon Appitite ..

Chazbot is a ledge .. sometimes too into her cars .. lol .

I'm one for Cars like 75% of the time i do like to Chillax however 8-)

I made a right mess of my hands re-shelling my car. Fitting gearbox's,shifting engines about has taken full effort.

Otherwise,i dont see a problem. If i was a woman, and ended up only doing the girliest of things, well i can only be glad that didnt happen..

We're raised to be seperate. Girls play with dolls, boys play with cars, its forced upon us. I think its bollocks. Do whatever you enjoy.

I actually find it a huge turn on to talk to a girl who knows her shit abouts cars. But the ones who really know their shit are few and far between. Most of the girls I know that like cars just like the look of them, a few could perform an oil change but nothing really complicated.

Anyway Toby, I didn't know you could talk to girls at all? Let alone talk to them about cars!

An oil change .. More like an engine conversion 8-)

I like to learn how to fix things on my car, and will have a go myself when I can, but I don't posess the body strength to undo a wheel nut lol

Me - "What car do you drive?"

Partner's friend - "A red one".

It's much better when women know about stuff, then you can explain your reasonings for spending so much time on them.

On the flip-side, you can't just tell them any old bollocks!

i don't know a massive amount about cars in general, my other half can tell you the bhp and engine size of almost anything, but thats never something thats interested me. But i do know about my own cars and mk1,2&3 polos. in fact my life practically revolves around my cars I'm always doing something on them, don't know what id do if i didnt have my cars to work on.

As most people know i can quite happily talk for hours about polos, sometimes its nice to talk about other things to non-car people but after a while i find i get bored and my mind wanders to planning what I'm going to do next in the garage

its just a case of having the guts to have a go at doing something yourself, not giving up and having a bit of common sense (a haynes manual and decent tools help!!!)

sometimes i curse not being a bit stronger but i hate giving in so i just persevere until things give in!!!

lol, you just need to find other ways of doing things, jumping on things, getting longer breaker bars and bits of scaffolding and having the right mental attitude. My other half sometimes tries to offer to help but he just has a halfhearted go, says it wont come undone and gives up! i say that something not coming undone isn't an option it has to one way or another  sometimes you just need to think logically about a problem and ways to do it..

i know two women who are good mechanic's, i did find them a bit butch but a few month's later i discovered they wer 'involved'.

i had 1 of my ex's de striping my mk1 golf gti and another ex i got to primer the inside of another golf i had.

still not sure if i'd like my missus to know too much about cars, listening to my girl explaining some basic mechanic's or the like to a mate in a pub would be a bit of a turn off tbh!

i think it's nice when you find anyone into car's tbh

if women are into it then great.

Probably one of the best mechanics I know is female. Women tend to be fair better at analysing a problem whereas us fellas get pissd off with stuff and grab the nearest hammer too easily.

and we have tiny hands that fit into awkward spaces and reach little nuts!

Obvious attention post  but so true. Since knowing you my tiny nuts have never been that hard to sort out.

Anyways...... girls should know the basics as minimum. Love it when you see under the bonnet of a girls car and there is no water and the dipstick is crispy and dry.
