prob leaving it as it...its nice and smooth now so a scotch pad with soon clean it up

^that does look great like that, pure factory finish.

I would roll with it like that and if it tarnishes bad then paint it...

steve did you put the breather in the back as a DIY jobbie?

i have the same rocker with no breather and its trying to shoot it out the camshaft oil seal :( on both my cars.

edit: i have learnt to read now, you added it yourself. engine bay looks good, nice and factory.

decided to convert the seats to heated for the winter...£59 ebay kit

they're really nice on a cold day..

I'm impressed, this will work pretty instantly unlike the heating certainly in my car.

Us Scots are that tough we can sit on blocks of ice.

I had my first frozen screen tonight and then the heater matrix started it's below zero squeak. I'm sure the speedp/dash will start doing it's starwars noise soon lol.

As said on Polo 3 mate I absolutely love this car and your work! The heated seats are a brilliant idea! Love how clean the whole car is

Heated seats are a god send in winter.

Genius.. Might have to think about this as a later mod to mine. Especially as my fans are broke :( Smart idea..

just like mine :) i like it alot matey. were the LED's in the dash hard to do?

  • Author

not too bad to led the dash...takes a bit of effort like

heres a pic of what i did inside...basicly a led just to one side of each logo you want lit...trail the wires out of the original place and connect up

ledpolo001.jpg

thats a clean car for the mileage. i like it mate, and nice one on the heated seats :D

Get some picks of the dash all lit up from the back seats, i'm actually well thinking about doing something similar!

I've tried to get more pics but i cant get em to come out clear..think i need a better camera tbh

you got nothing to looose it wont look at worse than nothing lighting up at all

and you can change colours if you have a modern headunit

Hmm, i've tried to have that panel off before, if I remember rightly it was a right c*nt. I'll have a stab at it on paper first, work out the resistances. Good old Ohms law! :-D

unless its been clocked the wrong way lol

does seem to get through speedos though ..its had about 3-4 clusters in now

hmmm intresting, so You want to sell it me? or help me find a minty one for me to px my coupe? When do you plan on doing the conversion?

Interesting engine change, am I right in thinking your fitting your original head to it with your standard inlet and weber?

What about gearbox? does it have a 5 speed or do you use the 5 speed you already have?

I'm sick of not knowing where my coolant is going, if a new rad doesn't sort it I'd be tempted to do the same or just a standard 1.3 lump, as you said in another thread I wouldn't pay much in the right scrappy.

Also while I'm here do you need new speedo/clocks because I have a spare set off a 86 polo which you can have for nothing, think you were having issues with fuel gauge?

  • Author

i already have a 5 speeder ..but those abd golfs should have the 085 box you need to convert (would still need a polo mount tho)

yes i plan to use my head and weber , as far as i know its all interchangable also looks like the abd head could be drilled for the fuel pump and use my old cam ...will have a look when i know what condition the head is in

paid £45 for it ...maybe another £40 on gaskets and a water pump so its not a dear conversion ,plus i can hopefully sell a few bits like the dizzy etc and make some ££ back.

from the figures in can find online its roughly 10% torque and 10% hp increase ..plus whatever having no cat and the weber gives

I've got some clocks on thier way thanks very much anyway
