no mate, if you've got one it has to work but there's nothing to say you have to have one.

No Its not tested as part of the MOT. Even if it is there its not tested. You might get an advisory for it and if you have left the motor in there they might say the stud the wiper attaches to might cause a hazard to pedestrians.

my car went thru it's MOT last thursday with the wiper motor removed and replaced with a grommet. not a mention of it at all. :)

talking of rear wipers, where can i buy a rear bung, or cover to put over the hole on my 6n polo.

use original blanking plate and stick in a sink bung, you can get them from b+q in a bag of assorted sizes

There are alot of cars out there that dont have a rear wiper as standard!

don't need it for MOT

Put mine through MOT today with these mods:

tinted headlights

homebrew tinted indi's

all red rears

NO REAR WIPER

In all fairness, handbrake cable snapped whilst on test, but passed on everything else!!!

not testable and if they do moan about "hazard to pestrians etc duck tape a sponge over the stud and that will do!
