My pride and joy

Featured Replies

Hi I'm luke, I'm 18, I'm kind of new to all this. been a forum user for a while now but never really posted up something proper so here we go.

i really want to become a proper member too but i cant at the mo which is annoying.

just thought i'd show you my car. i love it to pieces.

I brought it pretty much standard off my mate whos a machanic and looked after it pretty well. the guy before him was an old guy who had it from new.

its been regularly serviced and its in great condition. I'm obsessed with cleaning it i clean it pretty much every week.

my mate put the rear lights on when he had it and we thought they were well cool at first. now I'm not so sure i thinking of just getting some 16v ones.

since i've had it i've put the angle eyes of the front, pressed number plates, new center cap VW stickers/badges, some amplified 6 by 9's which sound wicked, i dont see the need for a sub at the mo. The last thing was coilovers, which were quite expensive considering i'm still a student and always broke.

but it's so worth it to be low..

anyways heres a few piccys..

i have lots of stone chips n my bonnet which really bug me as I'm so obsessed with cleaning it. I'm gonna get the bonnet resprayed soon, the guy at the body work shop said it'll be about £150 is that good or is that a rip off? or does anyone know of a better way like stone chip repair kits etc..

i know the wirings a bit dodge but they sound awesome seriously you can turn them up really loud and no crackling at all. they're 600watts but i dont know about RMS. oh yeh and the a make called C4.

forgot, the engine

100_0363.jpg

pretty much standard. i took a load of things out which seemed pointless to me, a few air pipes and covers and things

and yes that is one of those air horns from halfords attached to my battery. i couldn't find anywhere else to put it.

oh yeh thats another thing, when my mate owned it he tuned it up with his boss at work to make it all run perfectly and stuff. i dont really know what that involves myself but when we put it on the rolling road at his garage it had 91bhp.. which is more than standard so that's pretty cool.

It starts everytime, hardly ever has problems, just the usual ones like thermostat, pressure sensor, central locking pump got wet, nothing big. It's had the regular oil and filter changes and stuff. i like to look after her, or him.. dont know what to call it lol.

I'd like to know what you all think of it and what you think i should do next. I know your all just gona say, 'Get some shiney BBS Rims and low profile stretched tyres!!' but serously i can't i have no money.. I'd like to but i cant. I'll probably get some spacers soon for the back.

Also, how much would you say its worth? or how much could i sell it for like this? not that I'm going to, i dont think i could sell it i love it too much lol.

but i'd just like to know what it's worth..

look forward to what you have to say.

thanks

Luke

great colour! when it is polished in th sun it looks real good.... 91bhp?

a 1.4 8v? i think that is a bit exaggeratedly/erroneous....do you have a rolling road print out?

standard is 60bhp, so i cant see how you have 31 extra bhp from nowhere!

i am not a big fan of the mud flaps, i removed mine!

Edited by chrispy

yeah mate i personally love the mud flaps, i want to get me some. and a verry nice clean car. :) and yeah should be 60bhp, dont know how he would have got 91.. and 16v rear lights will b gd. :) nice 1 mate.

Lee

dont worry about the dubway sticker mate think it looks cool but you could maybe re-locate it to the rear window, and 1 thing u should change is the rear lights not a fan sorry and get a debadged slatted grill and mudflaps are not my thing i took em off

hmmm maybe it was 81. was a while back now. i'll check with my mate.

i dont think we did a print out we just looked at it on the little screen.

cheers for the comments guys!

nice motor there m8

mmm I like this, at least its a bit different to many of the mark4's, get rid of the mudflaps and put the sticker in the window instead will finish it off and I'm thinking polished wheels!?!?, 8-) 8-) 8-)

Tommy.

i want like your chairs ......from which car you have it........golf maybe or a new polo?????

Their in the CL models i've got them aswell i'd swap mine for valver seats any-day, the clocks look older but the rev limiter is like 6000 ?? Swear mine only goes up to about 5000 :?, if its a 1.4 8v then its a 60bhp engine btw mate so really can't see how you had 91 bhp on a rolling road print out?

thats a nice little car, i certain wasnt running about in anything as smart when i was 18. i dont mind the rear lights, they dont look far off how the most recent polos rear lights look. I don't like the front ones at all though, dunno why! i like the mudflaps too, they go well with the std wheels, which i reckon would look really cool if you colour coded the centre in the same colour as the bodywork. it would certainly be a cost friendly alternative to all those expensive rims everyone else seem to have on their cars!

theres loads of cheap things you can do to them without breaking the bank to!

yeh I'm gonna speak to my mate tonight and see if he can remember the bhp. I'm pretty sure I've got it wrong through over excitement lol. but it was definatly a bit higher than the standard bhp because everyone there was so amazed at it lol.

I think i may take the mud flaps off now and see how it looks. they scrape on every speed bump on the way into school.

(secretly i love it though)

and whats this about pollished wheels??

yeh the seats were standard with the car.

and the sticker.. anyone know if it's possible to peel it off and re-locate it with out ruining it? so i dont have to pay for another lol. not because I'm that tight but just cant be assed to wait for it to come lol.

cheers guys keep the oppinions coming!

you can in a way "trick" a rolling road to give a higher reading by instead of leaving the car in gear to work out the bhp lost through the transmission is to then just put the car in netral. we did this in collage to a tuned nova and the when done properly the bhp was somthing like 12bhp less than the "tricked" bhp.

my bonnet is like yours. rest of the car is almost all fine but my bonnet is raped with unremovable tar and deep chips. £150 sounds alright for a propa job.

love the body, but i think the front and rear lights are abit marmite!!!

not to my taste but good work!!!

only thing i'd do is colour code grill, and polish the rocker cover!!!

100_0351.jpg

Got some serious camber there dude, how quickly do you go through tires????

naa they're fine... its just the angle of the photo.

that definatly looks like camber to me aswell, and I'm not sure, its definatly clean and tidy i dont like th eflaps still on and the whole lighting idea but other than that ye tis alrite

ok so i just got back from my mates and he says it was 81bhp..

but on the machine we used, it said the original power should be 65 lol. so i dont know whats going on there.

ill get it done again another time.

does anyone know of a selling figure for my car??

or how can i find out myself?

cheers

like it mate, thats my favourite colour for 6n's

only cuz I've got one.

youd need a lot of work to get 81bhp but it would be well funny if for some bizzare reason it was true.

id get rid of the mudflaps, as everytime you scrape them, they move slightly, and rub the paint off the bumper where they are attached, due to little bits of grit, then when you do decide to take them off, theres little scratches underneath.

i took mine off straight away as i was warned of this.

as for selling it,

dont!

haha cheers for that tip mate. seems pretty daft reason but i'll go with it. i will take them off tomorrow.

I'm not going to sell it i dont think i could lol. It would be like selling a part of me!

just wanna know how much the part of me is worth

i reckon, provided theres minimal rust, and decent mileage, sold as it is.

about £1500 ish

but thats just my estimate

Does your dad drive a JCB luke?

Lol only kiddin, Looks well!

Does your dad drive a JCB luke?

Lol only kiddin, Looks well!

LMAO, exactly what I thought when I read the first 6 words or so. loll.

Nice motor mate, lose the mud flaps! :)

lol yeh yeh.. and my dads bruce lee..

i think when it finally decides to stop raining ill see if i like it with out the mudflaps.

and I've been looking around for some 16v rear lights but cant seem to find any.

anyway cheers people!

mud flaps are off now, definatly looks a lot smarter.
