I'm desperate to remove my casette player out of my mk4 polo. its the one that comes standard with the car.

i dont have any of those metal keys you need to take normal cd players out etc

I've tried un-screwing bits underneath the faceplate and that does nothing.

and I've tried jaming a screw driver done the sides of it and that does nothing either

any suggestions? i want a cd player in my car now and its doing my head in lol

It should have 4 small holes for you to use the "keys" in. If you dont have any keys cut a metal coat hanger up or if in realy big trouble use the claw from a claw hammer in the cassette deck. Works a treat :)

^ thats how i done it lol.ripped the bastad out.not thinking of keeping it so i jus broke it out.was a pain in the arse tryin to get it out normally.

Should only be like 2 quid for some proper keys, try Halfrauds, they should keep them that way you dont wreck anything and you can put the old stereo back in when you sell the car!

might be an idea to try and get it out without damaging it cos I'm not letting the next owner have my cd player when i come to selling it lol

ill try the coat hanger idea and if that fails ill try halfords then the hammer idea and just rip it out

LOL ill go have a go at doing that right now actually, knowing me though ill damage my dash....we'll have to see

if u have got the sony player ther is two slots at the top use a pair of kenwood release keys or take of all the screws of the face ans get a thin screw driver and press down the slots

if it's the standard cassette player with the four holes, put a steel nail in each hole and out it pops no damage whatsoever, hope this helps

just unscrew the front

youve probably done it by now, but i had to remove mine today, i used 2 kitchin knifes on the side of the player, not sure what it done but it released it and allowed me to remove the HU.
