Hey lookin for a really beefy horn to replace the childs toy noise mine makes looked at stebel nautilus or those ring air horns from halfords anyone no if these are anygood and easy to fit? which is better? jus want it loud as possible really to let the tards that keep tryin to crash into me I'm here

the kit i got (under£20) had some wiring, fuse holder, 2 horns, relay and a air compressor.

easy to wire up.

12V + to relay

groud to relay

trigger (existing horn wiring) to relay

relay to compressor

and your about done!!!

Cool as, are those stebel nautilus things as loud as the double air horn ones? as its an all in one unit isnt it if not where did u mount the compressor to on yours?

would u need to use another fuse? as the original horn has a dedicated fuse doesnt it? or is a seperate power feed coming from the batt

Get the Strobel. All the people with air horns that i know have a delay between pressing button and the horns sounding, the strobel has no pipes and thanks to the way its made sounds when you press the button. You will need to use the relay that comes with it as the wires on the car may be too thin and the horn either doesnt sound or you only get the high note. wire it up from the old horn first and if you only get a high note you will need the relay. Currently the only cars that i have fitted one to that doesnt need the relay is a Saxo and a Saab 9000 (has 2 horns as standars) as the OEM wires are quite beefy. the one on a MK3 Polo are very weedy and dont have much current running through them.

Every car in the family has one and there brilliant just dont stand in front of it when you test it. 110+ decibels at 4m and there is no excuse for not hearing it and it is MOT legal.

from the looks of it, it may be difficult to locate it as its a fairly big unit!

don't make the mistake that most people make, and face the horns forward.

air horns work by pushing air out of the horns, you'll restrict them by having air forced back into the horns whilst the car is moving.

I pointed mine down at an angle

its a seperate power feed from the battery

I would show you pics of mine (if i had any) but mine is a mk3 so under the bonnet is going to be different.

I bolts the compressor the the upper metal bar (not slam panel, the one above it) and the horns onto holes on the radiator.

I love the sound of it, but want it to be abit deeper

also i'm wondering, how can i make my airhorn louder? well i'm not sure if i want it louder or just a deeper tone.

currently i've one compressor, short run of tubeing, and 2 trumpets.

should i go for another compressor with 2 larger horns?

or

another compressor and use one compressor per trumpet? (maybe get longer coned trumpets for this idea)

I have got the Nautils and have given alot of people some scares with it. Very amusing the other night driving past a drunk walking home eating his kebab. The Kebab went on the floor and the unsuspecting victim jumped about 2 ft in the air haha.

hahaha i might go for that much of a pain in the ass for wiring? i hate chopping into the wiring or anything, does it fit on the standard horn mount?

Yea fits on the standard mount easy. There is a flat metal plate that connects to the chassis then the horn. Unbolt the horn from the metal plate then connect the nautils there. I would use the relay provided and take a power feed from the battery to power the horn. It will most likely blow fuses or burn looms if you connect it to the standard connector.

You only get a relay.

So you will need a coil of 17amp cable and about 6-8 spade connector (amount depends if the battery clamps have male spade fittings on them (like the Mk3, hell of a lot easier) if not get the loop ones that fit on the battery terminal bolt) and a few of splicing blocks (for the negative or run a cable back to the battery) or you can fit the loop contacts and find a nearby bolt to connect the earth to.

use the original horn cables to switch the relay on and off then to power the horn take the battery feed to the relay then from the relay to the horn, i connected the earth to the mounting bracket instead of running a cable back to the battery as the body is negative earth anyway.

any chance of a pic's and a diagram, iv wired mine up but don't sound as loud. iv just wired it in place of the original horn directly. i take it i gotta do it the way u have said.
