What got you into cars?

Featured Replies

Yeah so, what basicly turn you from seeing them as purely transport to havin a cheeky chuff over them now and again :unibrow:

For me, i've been into them as long as i can remember, think what first really kicked off the passion was when i picked up my first issue of Mini mag in asda in stafford when i was about 9 or 10, loved them ever since.

how about everyone else...?

erm...

always liked cars as a kid, like most lads do, then i started picking up the odd max power/redline/revs/fastcar (at 16, 4 years ago, so chill, pvw ftw)

then for some strange reason i started absolutely loving r5 gtt's

so did a mate at high school, difference being, he bought one. (they're still one of my fave cars tbh) it was about 250bhp, and it kicked serious ass.

a few of my mates started getting shit like corsa's n that.

then was max power shows, and i think that kicked it off.

then i got my corsa, and spent all the money a 17 year old has on it (about a k lol)

and I've never looked back. best hobby i can think of.

my dad, he had beetles and afew mgb gts

my dad had an E reg cav SRi which I loved, that's what started me off really. Then I got into modifying cars on PC games, because i couldn't really drive. Then when i was like 16 my dad had his mondeo, which we did odd bits to, serviced it regularly etc. Then when i bought my polo it all started for real!

family rebuilding cars since i was crawling.... dad rebuilding a maico and a gpz dragger in his kitchen aswell that kinda stuck in my mind  so just one thing led to another.

i tell you one car that always used to scare me shitless was our old next door neihbour, who is really into his triumphs, and he used to have this mk1 gt6 which was the dogs bollocks, was loud as fook and the noise used to freak me out, plus it had no headlights and for some reason that did too, awesome car 8-)

hehe sri was quick buh closest I've ever been to soiling my self was my uncles rs cosworth didnt help tha i was like 10 at the time lol suprised that didnt put me off driving forever  drove it like a loon

Obsessed since a toddler. If it wasnt a car or about cars,i wasnt interested. My bedroom looked like some model/memorabilia freaks room - but i was only 6-8yo.

By 16 i was a full time trainee panel beater and sprayer.

This is me in my first car,at 17,in '91. I was too busy getting drunk and laid to deal with the project next to it - i was starting to tire, and went into catering that year..

My old man was head mechanic at our local Ford dealership, was always interested in cars as a kid, but never overly bothered about having one.

Then I passed my driving test, and gone through 8 VW's in 5 years!

My family have always been into there Cars its Cool

I started getting into them because my older brother, when he was 17 and driving i would have been 13 so i prob got into it then. By the time i was driving at 18 ebay was big and i bought a few cars off there to do up and sell on. At 18 i had a Mk1 Golf, Mk4 Polo, Mk2 Rocco and the Mk3 Polo i still have now.

since a very young age, i used to have one of them big rugs thats a town :D and loads of little toy cars haha :D

then i started lookin at them on internet, and geting various magazines, got some very old max powers haha

Dunno, I've always been into them. I think a lot of lads just are?

Although the funny thing is when I was young my mum used to get annoyed at the toy cars everywhere. Thought it would get better as I got older but the toys got exchanged for car parts and is worst than ever now

C'mon, admit it, you still push the diecast models around the floor at night to keep yourself amused, making a brum brum noise too!!

I was allways in them as my dad is, my mates are older than me and when i was around 14 a few of them all got into VW's and so did i!

GT jenny from on here. She got me into cars. She also taught me to drive and helped me out muchly :-)

Likewise, I have boxes of cars in the loft from when I was younger. Used to spend hours and hours playing with them. Used to watch Top Gear for as long as I can remember. Dad's always been into driving/cars. I used to sit in the back of our car when I was 4 or 5 pretending to drive as we were going along...I was obsessed.
