Temp cover insurance - DO I NEED TO OWN?

Featured Replies

After ploughing through all the policy and legal documentation on the tempcover.com website, I cannot find any mention as to whether the car your temporarily insure has to be registered in your name (the policyholder)?

Obviously this applies to normal insurance, however I swear I've been through it 3 or 4 times and cannot find mention of it. I want to insure a car to drive for a couple of days that is registered in someone elses name.

All it defines in the documentation is that 'Your car' means the same car that you've put the registration number of and that the car will be used by you. Doesnt say you need to own it!

Anyone insured through them before?

I've used Norwich union before and reading through it it seems you don't have to be the registered keeper. Give them a ring and ask.

www.dayinsure.com let you insure any car regardless of if you are the owner or not.

Its specifically designed for when you need to borrow a car off someone to move stuff about or whatever.
