fazing out of petrol cars.

Featured Replies

has anybody else heard the story's in the news today about what this dictator has planed for drivers? it seems he wants to faze out all petrol and diesel cars by 2020 (excluding hybrids), thats only 12 years time, not really long when you think about it.

heres the story here... clicky.

this is all in the name of saving the planet, but there seems to be a few problems with this piss poor thought out idea.

this would only get rid of cars, all the major polluting vechals such as buses, trucks and vans (plus any thing that does any amount of millage every day) would still have to run on fossil fuels.

these eco cars would pay little to no road tax (plus the loss of fuel tax), so how are the government gonna make up this massive short fall in the budget?

they would need recharging, meaning that it would take the monopoly from one sauce (oil company's) and hand it straight to another (the electricity company's) and we all know how good they are at putting the prices up when ever they want.

plus i was under the impression that we pay road tax to keep the roads in good condition ( ), so why the fuck do these eco cars get cheap or fee road tax? they still use the roads so they should pay for them like we all do, pollution shouldn't come into keeping the roads pot hole free.

whats every one elses thoughts on this matter?

I've always thought that cars were a tiny contributor to all this pollution stuff everyone seems to be going on about! 10,000years ago or something like that there was a case of global warming too and probably a few times before that aswell, no fossil fuels were being burned then!

It's spelled phasing and phase.

Braaaaaaap tish!

Rations. Thats what usually works when the country is in a serious state of crisis.

so how are the government gonna make up this massive short fall in the budget?

I've always wondered this..

if we all stopped driving and smoking do you really think the government will stomach a huge drop in revenue?

the british government makes £50billion a year through drivers (from taxes on fuel, road fund licence, VAT on car parts etc) alone!

wheres that money gonna come from?

i see theres no longer an incentive to switch to LPG (except cheaper fuel)

and that is zero emmisions

shouldnt these cars be entitled to free road tax too?

but to answer your question in 2 words..

exactly, so the government would go back on allowing low emission vehicles to be tax free

pollution shouldn't come into keeping the roads pot hole free.

seriously though its daft

some people clearly dont think this sort of thing through before opening their mouths.

not sure how true it is but i heard that only a small precent of the road tax is actually spent on the road network, the rest gets pocketed, probably spent on MP's second homes

figures I've seen is this:

taken £50billion

spent on road network: £7billion

the rest is spent on "alternative fuels"

funny how the german government has helped fund this:

no point at all

at the end of the day england is a fuking speck on the planet compared to the size of america etc

i recon if this even did happen it would make about 0.001% difference (exageration lol) in all this 'save the planet' crap
