just spotted this in E38 and just wanted to know peoples opinions

surely the point in the expansion tank being transparant is so you can check the level of coolant??

yep! should have at least put a strip of narrow masking tape from top to bottom so you can keep an eye on the coolant!

i did a 2.0 16v red top conversion i a corsa for a mate after a month he came back and said it was running hot, i asked if he had checked the coolant level 'i dunno mate i sprayed the bottle thing black' he said! brains!!!

Seen a fair few do it (including on here). If you want to have a nice un-yellowed tank. Just buy a new one for £8, and it'll be translucent white.

no its a daily driver, quite a nice car except for all the pink details in the engine bay 0.o

aly exanson tanks are used all the time in racing, and they dont have little see-through levels.

i think its cool, but not keen on the colour.

i don't see what the problem is with the tank (aparat from the colour), all of the expansion tanks on all of the dubs i have had have been so brown/yellow i couldn't check the level though it any way, besides it doesn't exactly take a rocket scientist to unscrew the cap and look if theres water inside or not

and nowt wrong with painting you are water bottle no one says oat when people fit crome header bottles
