Lowering vs Insurance

Featured Replies

i am a relatively new driver so lowering my car will increase my insurance by quite a bit, i haven't checked to see how much extra they want yet. i was just wondering if you think its worth paying the extra amount they want, or just wait until i get a years no claims and then lower?

cheers.

17 and with quinn, 18 in oct.

if you cant afford to insure it, dont mod it as if you have an accident and the insurance find out youve modded and not declared they WILL void your insurance. you will get 6 points on your licence, possibly lose it(if its within 2 years of passing) and the person youve had the accident will have no-one to claim from as you'll be an un insured driver...

just say you bought it like that and didnt know!

all these fucking idiots telling him not to declare mods

I hope one of you un-declared guys crashes and kills someone - then get the insurance inspector round and they invalidate your insurance... good luck with that.....

you must be an absolute bellend!

Yeah quinn dont give a hoot about any mods unless they are major changes to the structure or are major performance modifications.

you also have driving other vehicles on your policy even if you ar TPFT. (ITS MEANT TO BE EMERGENCY USE ONLY BUT IT DOESNT TELL U THAT IN THE POLICY BOOKLET) you have to be careful with it tho, as insurance companys will always turn ther noses up at a claim whil driving other vehicles unless its an absolute emrgenc, and when i mean emergency i mean like someone about to die or have a baby! the sort of situations in which u really woulnt give a hoo if u had insurance anyway lol

I've not told them anything its a risk but i couldnt afford it otherwise its already £2300

is that fully comp?

if so whats the point if its void?

may aswel jsut go TPFT so your 'covered'

save you alot of money which your jsut pointlessly throwing away

i wouldnt go lowering it and not telling you are insurance... cos if you crash.. and you may say u wont.. but sum asshole might cause u to serve and crash or sum shit.. then they look over your car and youre pretty much fucked.. insurance invalidated.. and youve spent all that cash on yer motor.. and what do u get back.. feck all.... tidy.

I'm glad people are agreeing with me on this one............

even the slightest of mods such as tinting your lights, or a de-badged grill MUST be declared!!!!!!

I'm 17 too.

And if I was to get a de-badged grill, better light bulbs or something else small, is it likely to rise my insurance by a huge amount, or say a tenner a year? :?:

quinn are ace, i asked them about wheels grill etc but they only want to know about performance enhancing mods, coilovers were only £7 extra a month, not really worth the risk of voiding your insurance for that money is it!?

declared mods and keeping licence and money after a crash FTW!!!

spot on mate! I hope all the people who haven't declared get buggerd in jail like the little bitches they are!! a close family friend got knocked of his bike by some dumb as posty and was seriously injured by it, lost his leg, amoungst other things! like being able to make a living!! he got over a million off the insurance company! but he would give it all back for his leg though!! imagine if it was some idiot who has not declared their mods, the insurance company would really want to riggle out of that one!! put it this way, have you got millions in the bank? no!! dont be a complete retard and just declare all your mods people!! :x

phone your insurance and ask them what kind of mods u are allowed to do that wont effect your premium. simple! :p

Fixed that for you, mate. Don't be a cock-flavoured lollipop. Lowering your car isn't more important than valid insurance. And for all those who think 'I'll be really careful, I won't crash', well, that's the point of insurance anyway - duh? You never know what or who is around the corner, and unless you're Nostradamus, you're going to need insurance.

when i dropped mine it cost me an extra 25 a year
