Ok, so I'm after a new set of 6x9's can anybody recommend a good make and model? I'm sure this is a pretty open question, so let me help by setting my price limit at around £100! a link to any websites would be good.

And just as an idea, i had Sony xplod 6x9's before which i no people will say are poo, but i kinda liked them...

ow and i dont want them to look like naff Halfords bargins! lol!

no, not really. dont really see how they look any cheaper than the alpine ones you were looking at.

I've got infiniti's in the back of mine.. they're decent enough...

good sound quality and 6x9's don't really go together

in my opinion if you are keen on 6x9's then "audiophile" sounds are not really a concern? so following on from that the choice simply comes down to what sounds good to you personally. Lots of people could tell you loads of stuff about gear they have or have seen, but it will mean nothing to you as what you want might be totally different.

proof of this is that you had sony and you liked them even though people slated them.

What kind of music do you listen to? is it all MP3? Cassette or "normal" CD's? the reason I ask these is that if you are playing low quality source and the music is not bass heavy then what suits you may not be what is being recommended. Also how are you planning to install them and how good is your workmanship level? if you are just going to stick them on a back shelf and thats it, then maybe spending £100 might not be worth it? will there be an amp running them? how powerful is your headunit?

if you can give us more info maybe the advice will be better than just dumping a load of links on you and you still not being sure?

I am going to be playing CD and using my ipod, and as for installing them, it will be done by me. but i will do a good job. I'm handy with this sorta stuff, just not so clued up on whats good and whats not..

hello polo collector, any particular type of music you listen to? and a good choice of headunit.. i have owned a slightly older model of JVC for a while now and have been very happy with it.

the reason I state this is that

a) they are within your budget

b) they are well constructed (which does help the sound quality and long life of your purchase)

c) they suit a wide variety of music

and d) JBL is owned by a firm called Harman, they own brands like JBL, Infinity, Mark Levinson, Becker etc... so the thinking is this, if they have made a product then they will definitely know what they are doing as they are in the same company as other great brands. in laymans terms the VW group has lots of brands under it and they all benefit from VW's reputation and manufacturing knowledge.
