MOT Fail

Featured Replies

Hihi, as the topic says MOT failed, but i want a little bit more info on what i need to get it sorted! Basically the mechanic told me i needed a front track rod or something like that, i said yeah ok without paying attention now i have noclue on what i was suppose to buy! He said it costs around £15 though.

The MOT reads:

Offside front track rod end ball joint has excessive play. 2.2.B.1f

Any help would be sweet :)

if you look behind the wheel under the suspension strut there will be some sort of a bar (usually black) i cant say what shape as it varies car to car, this has the ball joint in. You can just get the ball joint replaced but it is just as easy to replace the whole arm (on my old pug 205 it was £25 from gsf) or about £60 fitted from a garage

or if you have a haynes manual you can fit it yourself :unibrow: but beware things are usually rusted and require plenty of pursuesion

I've been told if i get the part, labour will not be charged! So what exactly do i search for!!

its call a track control arm, or often a wishbone, what car is it and ill send u the link for gsf

https://secure.gsfcarparts.com/shop/ go to this website

select vw watercooled > polo > suspension and road wheels

its one of the top three just select the year

Track rod end and track control arms are different things!

a track rod end is not a wishbone. they both have ball joints i will give you that much but look.
