That has put it in perspective, Thanks! Stunning example of a Mk1 btw 8-)

Ah, about passengers... Can't really have more than 2 (with stock suspension setup) people without the back tyres rubbing the arches as it is lol, I'm running 5.5J wheels with 165 tyres, would fitting 145's cure this irrespective of whether I lower the car or not? Cheers

Check out Jackson Tuning's pages in the forum, PhilJ should be able to find you a pic or two. Mk3's can be lowered 70mm on 13" wheels with low profiles and still not scope, can't see why mk2's would scope!! If you're running 5.5J's (standard yea?) then some lower profile tyres would not only prevent it scoping, but also look alot better!!

As standard the suspension is ridiculously soft and Polo's will rub if a bird lands on it lol.

i had my old square down 80 rear with 155's on 4 & 1/2 j steels and that ran fine!

then we raised it to 65ish and drove from n wales to oxford with four peope to get my mates loon!

no issues exept we had to get the two out the back to go over a speedbump in a onestop.

Standard is a no-no, I bought the car with the standard steels (which are something silly like 13 x 0.5J) A day after I was offered either a set of genuine 15" BBS RA's or some 13" lookalikes with no manufacturer's stamp, I couldn't resist

mine 40/40 with 10mm lowering caps so technically 50/40.

front needs to be lower really, the rears are at the top.

I'd get a 60/40 kit, it'll be fine unless you take the thing off roading. Mine was on skinnier wheels than yours, standard mk3 steels and whatever the normal tyre size is, but never had any problems, even over speedbumps 4- up.
