Are my tyres still legal

Featured Replies

basically my front tracking/camber is still out since sorting it and over time has started to wear the inside of my wheels. I read online that the law says that 75% across needs to have atg least 1.4mm depth and the side markings dont matter.

As long as i cant get pulled and id pass my mot in a few weeks ill be happy. Pics:

its 1.6mm across 75% of the width of the tyre over the whole circumference.

I'd say your front tyre is still legal but it will get worse if you don't get your tracking sorted like tomorrow! And you will definatly get an advisory on your MOT for it if it passes at all.

It's 1.6mm across the centre 2/3rds. From here, I'd say no, that's not legal. Get it changed, and get your tracking sorted.

3 points + £90 for each defective tyre.

Thats illegal,me thinks. And your tracking must be well out.

i would say thats illegal, get the tracking sorted

well I've changed the tyes round for time being. But just soo much hassle.

i got pulled for my plates the other day. They checked the tyres and said nothing

I'd say that's illegal.

Just change the tyre and get the tracking sorted. It's a lot better than just risking getting pulled for it and wearing another tyre down quickly.

yeah one of my tyres did that...its illegal

not legal, change it as soon as for your own safety mate. dont want to find out next week you couldnt stop in the rain and crunch :( happened to my mate

Never mind the % across the tyre, if it is worn to the secondary rubber anywhere on the tyre it is illegal no matter what the rest is like

My front tyres have done the same. I need to get some new ones sorted this soon and get my tracking/camber done again.

HIYA!!!!!!!

Ignore them all mate......that tyre is 100% legal! The centre 2/3 look to have more than the 1.6 minimum tread depth!

The shoulders of the tread don't matter at all just as long as they don't have any of the cords exposed!

Assuming the rest of the tyre has above 1.6mm if tread remaining, you WILL without a doubt pass an MOT! I've passed with worse than that!!!!!!

Obviously tho, you still need to get the tracking sorted soon!
