okay well after a journey down to the Portsmouth area on thursday and a few head scratching, map turning moments i ended up with a set of BBS RM012's in my boot and heading towards southampton for a night out with some lads i met travelling. fast forward to today and, well, here there are:

they're 8.5" rears and 8.0" fronts with 195/45s all round so a cheeky bit of a stretch

am going to sort out the stance tomorrow hopefully- rear will come down a touch but i'm a fan of the nose down kinda look so not too much! as much as i want to bring the front down more, they rub like a bitch at the moment so i need to find somewhere that can roll and flare the fronts slightly before that goes ahead... will also end up getting the backs flared a tad just for kicks. anyone recommend anywhere in the bucks/ milton keynes/ aylesbury area?

other than that it's just a case of sorting my front bumper out with the new lower grille that's on it's way (although i'm seriously considering an 8v item- definitely prefer the look but not sure whether it'll just make the front look higher...?) and colour coding the rear badge in a nice shade of green, then all she'll need is a good clean and i'll be happy... for now!

so there you go, another VW on BBS'- what is this world coming to? lol

yeh polos all good, its running low on some steelies now. Yeh hes interested pm or text me a price when youre ready. The guy is in town, hes a VDub Nut turned DJ now, lol. Only thing is he's really hard to get hold off, but he comes to my old mans place a fair bit so ill get my bro to have a word with him then. If not, when youre next in town go see the powerflow guys, they may know???

MSH's old wheels! very cool colour choice on the centres and look trick on your car. 185's up front and some camber out back should sort you out in the stance department. a couple of 185/45's would be considerably cheaper than having the arches pulled thats for sure!

do you reckon 185's would make that much difference? when i say it was scraping i mean alottttt lol. the slightest change in road surface brings that lovely sound of rubber meeting bodywork to my ears!

the guy i bought them off ('msh' as philly mentioned above- really nice guy!) advertised them as having a front et of 8 and a rear of 2... so they're pretty wide! going to get the arches looked at tomorrow hopefully, not really up for pikeying it with a bit of metal piping and a mallet but i guess it's a last resort!

185's will help alot but as you mentioned they're et8 up front where as mine are et22 and i'm low on 185's and it still scrubs so you might struggle. best bet is to give it a go!

looks phat mate, I'm looking for some rms but thought 8.5 would be too much at the back but you just proved they suit it beautifully, i would go for some 185s at the front would make the front wheels sit lower to the ground and give it some stretch

yeh i think i'll be getting my hands on some 185/45's as soon as possible to bring the front down a bit more, have also been in touch with the guys at arch enemy (who i've heard great things about) to get all 4 arches rolled and flared slightly to actually make the damn thing drivable with these on!

the colour will be staying as it is for now, but who knows what might happen in the future! tempted by some nice yellow centres. (or how about leaving the centres green, getting yellow centre caps and then red bolts to rock the rasta colourway?!) lol... maybe not

will let you know how the arch rehabilitation goes!

8s would rub on the rear with a 185 tyre dude.. arch enemy are the way forward.. used alot on ed38. hope the paint dont crack tho.

Okayyy, well I had to delay the arch rolling up to this point for various reasons (holiday and Reading being the main offenders) but got all of those out of the way and finally fixed a date with Phil of Arch Enemy after being pointed in his direction by a mate with a 200sx.

So, Phil came over, had a look around and worked a bit of arch related magic to get them how they are now. Have to say that I was optimistic but not 100% sure that it would solve the rubbing issues completely. Luckily, however, Phil did an amazing job on all four arches; flaring and rolling the rears and rolling the fronts to give me much more room than I had expected! Now that they're on I can safely say I'm amazed- it's pretty much the same to when I had the 7's on all round (arch contact wise) and I haven't even got the 185/45s on the fronts yet! The fact that I can still bomb it round crappy country lanes with very minimal rubbing on this spec wheels is a novelty I'm still getting used to

Anyway, along with that I repainted the front badge as it was looking a bit rough round the edges, fitted the lower front grille (cheers Jez!) and thought I'd give the filler cap a quick spray just for a laugh, so all in all she's looking a little bit tidier! (Just need to source a set of the front side grilles and get that splitter sorted out, still pretty ghetto stylzzzzz lol).

But enough of my chat, I'll hand over to the pictures:

Sorry for the pic overload but I couldn't resist! I know it's not exactly stance central at the moment but it is driven daily round those dreaded country lanes and I just can't afford to wind the coilies down any more, I've put the back down a touch since these photos to get it sitting a bit nicer and did try with the fronts but the front offside coilover is all seized up. No amount of WD40 and beating would move the damn thing, all I did succeed in doing was screwing up one of the rings I guess I'll just have to get it off one day and do the job proper!

So that's me done, if anyone does need arch work doing at all I would highly recommend Arch Enemy and Phil in particular, really nice bloke and he did a top job! Can't complain when they come to you and spend just over 5 hours crawling around under your car to sort it out can you?!
