lupo gti vs saxo vts

Featured Replies

one was standard handled ok.

could you please make up your mind, one min yours saying they only go well in straight lines, now your saying it handled ok. i've never driven a glanza so i can't comment on that, but to say a 205 gti (one of the best hot hatches and a real drivers car) only handles ok? i'll take your comment about the glanza with a pinch of salt

you do that lol i meant the modded one was very edgey. find out where you can test drive a glanza v and you will certainly change your mind about shitty french unreliable wannabe pocket rockets, before you say they are reliable i work for citreon and suzuki and I've never seen a suzuki come in for repair EVER apart from general servicing and whordes of shitty and tatty VTS's VTR's come in for blown engines, gearboxes. Think that settles build quality and reliability JAPAN 1 - Fance 0!

Regardless of speed, I'd have the Dub, 'cos being French the Saxo is held together with chewing gum and string.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

205 gti ftw i love mine soo much more than my old dub

106GTis are slower on book than the Saxo VTS because Peugeot did the 0-60 test with a full tank and an extra person on board apparently. They are exactly the same car bar the fact that the VTS has an oil cooler and is slightly lighter.....

pritty sure that it doesnt have a oil cooler

VTS + Cams + Map / Chip to Suit against my Stage 4 Toothed Belted G40, PSD exhaust and coilovers, there really wasn't much in it.

The guy was pushing me along when behind me, I was pushing him when behind him - neither had enough to pull away from the other though.

I was impressed as I was out and about all night with this guy, and he could drive well - was quite annoying being on par with a frenchy!

Although i'd much prefer to be sat in my german coupe than some chocolate stuck together with gum frenchy anyday!:lol:

how does that settle the dispute over build quality? saying tha 'whordes of shitty and tatty VTS's VTR's come in for blown engines, gearboxes.' is a sign that the cars been hammered and not looked after, which would point more towards retarded owners than poor build quaility. look at how many VTS's and VTR's have been sold and the main market for them is young drivers, so yeah a big amount will be mistreated. now compare that to Suzuki, do they even sell cars aimed at young foolish drivers? (the last one i can think of off the top of my head is the swift gti.) so just by using simple mathematics your argument is floored.

French cars in general are not the best put together, but there far from shit, and i really don't see how any one that owns a mk4 polo can bitch about French build quality

and as for the 205 being a wanna be pocket rocket, i think you'll find it was one of the original pocket rockets, without the success of that and the mk1 GTI there would be no glanza v's, VTS's or other hot hatches (at least not for a good while any way) these cars showed there was a market for 'pocket rockets' (and a big one at that) that no one else had tapped into yet.

Although i'd much prefer to be sat in my german coupe held together by Spanish seamen and belly button fluff than some chocolate stuck together with gum frenchy anyday!:lol:

Everyone loves a good moan about "french cars"

I bet the saxo and 106 boys don't sit on their forums discussing 6n 1.4s and 6n2 gtis

at the end of the day the french cars are the funner cars to drive

still have a smile on my face when the 205 broken ;)

(mk4 built very well thank you!)

i'm glad you said that, i now know for certain you have no idea what your talking about

i wish you worked in a vw place so you could see how many mk4 16v's and mk5 gti's came in for shot gear boxes and i've seen some of the newest mk4's with rot so bad that it would make them uneconomical to repair, infact i've seen mk4 polo's with more rot than my old mk1 golf.

now have a little glance though this thread, i'm not the only one that has noticed that mk4 were rust proofed by stevee wonders even blinder second cousin click me.

my mates got a vts and I'm not lyin i kept up with him in my 1.0 mk4 (which is built solidly) until bout 60mph and i was in 3rd gear and i know he was thrashin the frog cus hes got a huge exhaust on it lol. and french engines are good bu tthe body work is shite.

lol sorry but he must have not put the foot down.

or i have a huge engine hiding some where on my car i dont know about lol but seriously we wer both trying after 60 though he was off obviously

mk4 for 16v and mk5 gti you see, i dont own one i own a 1.6 8v. cars only rust if the arent maintained properly mine doesnt have an inch of rust. and they are build solidly, id rather crash in a mk4 polo then a mk1 golf

Everyone seems to have their own opinion on the french v german dispute! More to the point they are all entitled to it too.

All i can add is that i drove vw for 8 years then sold 3 gti's to buy my flat. I bought a 306d turbo for banging out the milage. What a huge mistake that was!!!

After 3 months of the worst drive and ride of my life i have moved back to vw and sourced myself a tidy 6n2 gti. I no longer need to do lots of miles and in all honesty the Pug wasnt that good on the mpg anyway!

Each to their own i say but i know what makes me happy!

well i'm glad you like your polo, and i agree i'd rather crash a mk4 polo than a mk1 golf, the polo's are easily replaceable

At the end of the day a mk4 polo is in the same boat as a saxo in my eyes ..

Both okay for a daily as a car you can throw a little bit of money at and have looking respectable .

However i wouldnt say any of them have been built properly . VW are getting back to grip with things now with car's like a lupo with galvanised shells ect but the older carts are by far the best built .

You could tell the change in the late mk3 coupe's which were built in spain .. thats when the mass amounts of premature rust began ..

This is a rather ridiculous argument for me to mment on though as to be fair a dub aint a dub to me unless it has flat surfaces , moodey looks , 80's retro feel to it .
