Driving along today and the oil light came on with a buzz for about 3 seconds. So i pulled into a car park and checked the oil level, it was fine. So went home about 15 miles and there were no problems, only came on once after the first. My dad says it may be the oil pump, are they hard to change and is it expensive. Check the oil level again once it had cooled down and it was just below the top marker. I don't have a clue

The buzzer is for oil pressure, it could be a faulty pressure sensor or pump?

Search for 'J114' or 'oil buzzer'.

J114 is a troublesome electronic module inside the speedo that can give false oil pressure alarms with age because it also monitors the engine revs and uses the sensor for high or low pressure accordingly.

That's oil starvation; the pump is on the right hand side of the engine, when doing a sharp right hand turn, all the oil goes to the left hand end of the engine, if the corner is sharp/long enough the pressure will drop in the system as no new oil is being pumped in to maintain it.

Sometimes the sensors start playing up so check those as well

best bet is to connect an oil pressure gauge up if you can, then at least you'll know if you actually have an oil pressure problem or not. Driving the car till you've done this isn't a good idea as if pressure is too low then you could be killing the engine.

But i don't think so, i have had to change the left front shock and one of the gaitors on the drive shaft now this, in 6 weeks of passing my test. But i love my car eventhough its only a 1.0l. However a i am planning to rally it when i am older, or at least get a g40 in it, however not will i am 17

well, it's a mk2 polo so probably 20 years old or more so it's going to need more maintenance than some newer cars would but the good thing is parts are cheap and they are very easy to work on.
