i need a drivers side mirror , so what do i need

OS or NS??

need a 100% posotive answer cuz people I've asked have said different things so far.

Side nearest the kerb is the nearside, side nearest the centre of the road is the offside.

So for your car (RHD), drivers side is offside.

It stays the same way round on a LHD car too. So you'll want an o/s mirror.

I remember it as offside has the steering wheel cos the steering wheel is an O as in Off side

and i work for audi....

thats the way i was always told to remember haha

if your offside obligatory mirror ( drivers side wing mirror ) is missing it fails the mot. but as long as you have the drivers side and either the rear view mirror or passenger side. its an advise on which ever one is missing.. best bet.. have all three :)

The offside is not the same on a left hand drive car.

To know which one is which,it helps to understand why they are named as such.

It is illegal to park on the wrong side of the road. That's with the driver side to the pavement and passenger side in the road. The car is viewed from the pavement. Therefore,the side closest to the person is called the nearside - being the nearest side.

ol' wise mikey is right. except for example... a left hand drive smart car registered in this country needs an offside mirror by law. but i see what you were saying mike. just depends on the country too :)

Yeah,i should've emphasised that parking on the wrong side of the road means that of the oncoming lane,so its country specific. Abroad its the same but a lhd car in this country still parks on the same side,thus the nearside is therefore the drivers side. My mistake.

Incidentally,we drive on the left due to the choosing of an offside position of swords worn by right-handed knights long,long ago.
