£112.9! Get in!!

Apperently somewhere in my area is 111.9p a litre but I need to sign up to see what it is :(

Supermarkets began a petrol price war yesterday, bringing relief for millions of motorists in response to a fall in oil prices. Asda announced a cut in the cost of unleaded and diesel by 3p a litre, a move that triggered Morrisons' 4p a litre reduction for unleaded petrol and diesel.

Sainsbury's followed suit with a two-week promotion offering a 5p per litre reduction for customers spending £50 or more in its stores, while Tesco said it was lowering prices by up to 4p a litre.

BP, the owner of 223 petrol stations across the UK, said it would reduce prices by an average of 1p per litre.

Edmund King, president of the AA, said the cuts showed the fuel "spike" had reached a plateau."If the global oil price drops further we could see even bigger reductions," he said.

The global oil price has fallen 6% since it reached a mid-July peak of $147 per barrel and fell below $130 per barrel yesterday.

see this looks good to some people but to me it's fuck all plus i've heard supermarkets fuel is rubbish anyway(not saying it is, I just heard you get more miles for your money when going to shell,esso etc).

When i started driving 2 and a half years ago it was 86p a litre.

Where do you think supermarkets get there fuel mate? You think Asda has its own oil rig in the middle of the north sea?

If you read my post carefully it said I heard and not saying it was.

I don't know much about what's in fuel or whats added to fuel or oil rigs so no point in me answering that.

I do know that fuel has went to fuck though putting it up 30p a litre in 2 and a half years.

Can I just say, great big UGH @ prices coming down 3 days after I filled mine up from the redline. I've barely used it since too so it could have waited.

I'm sure supermarkets buy cheap fuel with lower octane levels which is why they can sell it cheaper. I always fill up at bp esso shell after hearing all the problems with tescos diesel recently.

Oh yeh it has come down slightly but i cant see it falling much more.

I'm pretty sure they recoupe the money elseware, say they take off 3p off a litre, and add that 3p to say a loaf of bread or somthing in there store. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the lowering of petrol as I don't buy food, my folks do but I don't really see this as much of a big deal, I filled up last night for 112.9 and only got .40 of a litre for a tenna which got my 8.84 litres then I did last week when I paid 116.9 for £10 for 8.34 litres. Not a big difference really.

I used to get 10.01 litres for a fiver in the early '90s. A mate bought a flat at the time for 16 grand. I earned 9k a year. Now if we could bring that balance back..

^where you you fill up mikey, cheapest i'v seen in mk is 113.9 for 95ron, from asda.

i think this price war is a good thing... tesco and asda some of the most powerful businesses will drop there prices until there at a decent level... this will force companies like bp and shell to bring theres down... let the war go on...

I think its false econemy driving to these garages that are 2p cheaper then your local, you waste more then the 2p per litre getting to the cheaper garage.

My advice, buy from the garage near your house or on route to somewhere your going.

It not going to make much of a difference though unless it goes back down to or below £1 a litre.

I remember when i first started driving thinking the sharp rise from 78.9p to 85.9p was bad. If only it was that price now.
