112.9p in morrisons near me but diesel there is still 126.9p, although that has come down from 130.9p.

petrol round here's come down a bit...was surprised this morning...was a double take followed by a WTF!

Supermarkets DO have generally poorer quality fuel than the main oil companies of it. It is all like as said, blended to a minimum BS standard. The main oil companies then blend it to a higher spec with different additives, to get better performance/economy etc. I know this because i asked a member of the establishment at Kingsbury Fuel Deopt (Midlands equiv of Buncefield) when i was working there.

Well I'm filling up to the top when I go to Shropshire tomorrow as it's over 5p a litre cheaper for unleaded than it is here (god damn expensive south )

Super unleaded is also about 5-6p a litre cheaper, don't really think the 1 litre will appreciate super any more than normal unleaded though

Well, here's good old Hoppy's thoughts on fuel prices!!!

The price of crude has just come down a touch at the mo, but the supermarkets are just playing with our minds.

Yes the price is coming down but to get the massive discounts you still have to go into store to spend money on other items to get a decent fuel discount. They can operate on loss leaders to ensure they get you through the door and make it feel as though you are saving money. They did a similar stratergy with the general cost of food the other week, slashed the price of some line just to get people talking & through the door.

When the economy is in such a mess like it is at the mo, retailers need to protect their turnover & profits, any means possible will be used.

Long term I hope the fuel does genuinley decrease. The OPEC countries have got us by the bollocks at the mo & it's not just England that is finding it hard, the continent is having a real old crisis about it!!! The French kicked off, big time about it a few weeks back, but media suppression of the story ensured that we didn't get to know about it.

I don't want to sound like a blithering idiot, I want fuel prices down, but I think higher prices will be with us for a bit longer before they do GENUINELY drop!!!

the tax on fuel doesnt change due to your location in the uk, its a flat extortionate rate for everyone as i understand, so this must just mean the oil companies are charging extra cos they know people will pay it.

The variation by location is partly transport costs, and a lot economies of scale. If a station buys more fuel, they get it cheaper.

I can still remember when my dad used to think 43p a litre was overpriced!
