I've noticed this forum has once again slipped into the realms of illiteracy. I see many people on here moan about text talk, so I’ll bring this to light. As there is no general chat, I've posted it here.

Hopefully this will help some people appear to have the intelligence greater than that of a ten year old.

Their:

To associate people in numbers greater than one, also may be applied to other beings and objects. Their house is bigger than mine.

There:

To describe a place. Look over there.

They’re

An abbreviation of “they” and “are”. They are running across a field:- They’re running across a field.

A sentence with all three:

They’re spying on us with their beady little eyes from that house over there.

Other common and annoying errors are bought and brought, them and those.

Bought:

To buy. I bought an apple from that shop.

Brought:

To bring. I brought this over here.

Them:

To describe people. We saw them over there.

Those:

The plural of that. Those wheels look very nice.

Another annyoningly common usage.

Have and of.

Used commonly in a sentence with would. Would've

I would've won that race.

Commonly spelt as I would of won that race.

Should be spelt: I would have or would've won that race.

Lighten up a bit, the world isnt going to end just because theres a few idiots on here that can't spell.

Petty or not, that one is chuffin annoying!!! I haven't noticed the 'there's' much, at least its the same word..but brought and bought

are two completely different words haha Spelling doesnt bother me on here because people type quickly and I'm not a perfect speller.

Is this an official warning?

I took a test on gashbook the other week for all spelling like this and I was the only person out of about 50 of my friends that got 100%

I don't understand why it's difficult, poor education I suppose but I don't see that as an excuse as I went to public schools and wasn't a geek but I knew how to spell

I'm on and off being good at it and not giving a sheet, depends on my ocd mood that day

People don't tend to use it correctly unless they have to

Haha good on you Quinny for trying to educate people about correct grammar. I get pissed off by it too, but nowadays I just expect it

There are a few forum users which use bad grammer and some just can't spell full stop but just read between the lines and you can eventually work out what they are trying to say.

All of my mates speak differently some are stuck up and speak like toffs and some speak as if they should be in the wild but I just get use to it.

It's a Public forum anyway anyone can join which will mean that you will come across certain threads which YOU may not understand or they may just piss you off

I think most of it is down to laziness....minor grammar slips are OK, but the state of some peoples posts are appalling.

I can only speak for myself, but IMO yes it does. If you have to read something more than once to understand it, then it's obstructive.

I'm not saying that education is pointless, just that it doesn't matter how well someone is educated if they cba to put that education into practice then they will come across as being poor spellers. Basically it is just down to lazyness
