Hey thanks people for the great reception lol. I'm suprised that many people are loving them lol. they're not all that amazing to me, just a bit of fun. Always found side elevations more fun than doing 3D images, but not as impressive. Cant reply to everyone, so heres just a random selection of replies lol.

Yeah i did for a year or so too. But I felt that when I needed to draw again for my course i was well rusty. So i did these to try and keep myself drawing through the summer. Its well worth starting back up again, you never know what you might end up doing or how it can come in useful!

I've got a few other projects planned, and a few other cars lined up for pictures yet. Never really taken the time to work out what id do to a mk4 if money and ability were no object, so maybe one day soon.

I did Games Development in college and I loved 3D while I was there, but it soon wound me up way too much and I packed it in not long after leaving to replace it with something more easy-going - dabbling in graphic design -

I made this G40 as the main project of mine, but it was sketchy visually and a monster behind the scenes. I've not got the gift to do cars :p

This all transpired eventually into me doing the yearbook this time round, which was fun and has set me on the course to graphics.

What software did you use? We have to learn how to use Alias to do 3D modelling on our course. I did a Zakspeed Ford Capri Turbo DTM car model :p

Some great stuff there mate, i used to draw, mostly graffiti style stuff for my art course, but haven't in a while, might try and get some pics uploaded when my phones fixed.

I used Maya (Alias) for that.

I've made better but it's not been cars - they're so hard to do, but there's got to be a technique I haven't learn or been shown which makes them so much easier.

i use alias auto studio for my cad projects.

Awesome. Yeah alias auto studio is what i use.

I havnt done anything other than cars on it yet, so I'm not sure what techniques you use, but it is pretty damn complicated. Takes a lot of time and effort too.

Chartpak markers - which deffinately arent water based. They smell very strong and you get a bit high after using them for a while in a closed room lol.

Letraset marker pad - the paper used makes the biggest difference. Theres about three different makes they stock in our uni art shop, but i prefer this.

Its not cheap, with each pen being a few pounds each, and you often needed about 20-30 colours for an image, but they layer onto each other, like most of the bodywork on the green one is one green pen layered, and then a dark grey over the bottom for the sill.

Most designers in the industry use this sort of stuff. Even the current VWs will have all been sketched up using similar pens and marker pads.

nice work mate. i finished transportation design last year doing this sort of stuff. your renderings are really lively so are interesting to look at which is very important as it attracts opinion.. isnt that what design is all about?.....

my advice would be...keep practising if you plan on getting a job doing this, as you are probably well aware in this industry it is really difficult to get a job yet alone a well paid one, youve got to be the best of the best ultimately to rake in the big bucks...

anyways what i see here is something worth looking at for once unlike most the shite the so-called-artists post on here. good work and I'm looking forward to seeing more! :-D :-D
