1986 VW Polo C Formel C in Mars Red.

Sadly the time has come to sell the polo, its been a great daily, and a good project car. But motorbike forces sale...

I purchased the car from the previous owners in February this year, and has been always well serviced and maintained. Very low original milage (43,600), and Full Service History to prove, I even have the original purchase receipt from 1986 when it was bought for £4995! This car has tons of paperwork, previous MOT's, service information etc.

Last service was approx 2 months ago, oil and filter change, brake pads, air filter, coolant change, spark plugs, new track rod end and tracking.

The body work is in good condition, all the panels are very straight and rust free. The paint is in pretty good condition, the roof and boot could do with a slight T cut, but the paint under the faded laquer is fine. The car has been debumpered and lights, indicators etc repositioned. However the drivers side wing had been dinged by the previous owner, but has been pulled back to shape and repaired, I also filled and smoothed the front bumper mount, then primered it. I haven't had chance to finish the paint and clear coat it, but I'll throw the paint in with the car. The plan was to smooth both mounting points either side and smooth the front. Matt black bonnet.

The wheels are a little tatty but all straight. They could do with a respray and a re laquer, but still not a bad set of winter alloys - bbs replica's. It had 2 new tyres a few months ago, and all 4 still have plenty of tread.

The front suspension has been replaced and uprated with shortened performance shocks and springs, which really has improved the handling. The rear suspension has just had lowered springs fitted, I have a set of adjustable shocks and spings which I would offer for an extra £30 to the buyer. Also the original steelies with 4 good tyres available for an extra £10.

The engine runs well, starts every time and idle's fine. Doesn't burn too much oil and along with the 5 speed gear box its very cheap to run, and all gears pull smoothly. The bay is very clean and tidy, repainted rocker cover etc.

The interior is also very clean and original, the heaters, lights, switches etc all work, and is fitted with a CD player. However as you'd expect with a car of this age the drivers bolster is a litte worn, but really not that bad.

Hey man, genuine I think, its on the log book as a Formel E and has the 4 + E gearbox, no MPG guage - apparently some of the Formel E's had an early form of engine shut off when in neutral with the handbrake on, then restarts when you put it in 1st, but mine doesnt do that either?!

And I'm 99% sure it's badged now as it was when it left the factory..
