Hi Laura

Are you aware that the 6n2 1.4 16v comes in 100bhp (uber rare) and the more common 75bhp like mine- and I can tell you it isnt very quick!

If I were you I'd get the GTi, but be weary of the gearboxes, alot of people say they are poop, a few people are on like their 4th box!

Instead of saving how about a small loan to get you started, if you have a stable job? I did for mine, lifes too short for saving for something you want NOW I reckon

I would take the gear box comments with a pinch of salt, mine was fine over the 2 years I owned it and I absolutely abused that car.

:-)

Just look for one with full VWSH and you will be oright :)

Or just a Full Service History in general. If I bought a VW from up here and it had been serviced by Specialist Cars in Aberdeen I'll know it's not had a good life lol

Wasnt speaking from personal experience, but when i was considering a GTi that was the main thing that put me off

Welcome Laura I'm very local to you I'm from Darwen we run a NW club too and meet at the duckburyhall quite near accy too www.un-phased.com

Yeah exactly, all your gonna do is have it accelerate in less time than it takes standard as they will hit the limiter in 5th standard, tried and tested (on private raods obviously)

Hmmm.....how you mean by this?

Have you tried supercharging a valver polo?

Lol, I'm sure you meant on a private road, ha ;) :p

Can I ask, are you a young driver?

Hey Tom :-)

Yeah I was aware that 6n2 1.4 16v are 100bhp but thanks for th warning though :-)

What car have you got? Mk 5 polo, what engine?

Ok I'm confused now,lol, what isn't quick?

Ah right I see, fair play, so why would you suggest getting a GTi, th only thing that is stopping me from getting one of thoses is I wouldn't get insured on it :-( so I would have to wait til I am older.

Ha, thats th problem, I'm at uni but I am considing getting a wee loan to help me out quicker cos like you said life is tooo short, sadly :-(

what I mean is just supercharging a valver wont make it any faster top end, they hit 130ish(speedo reading) with standard power.

I'm 21 been driving since I was 17, why do you ask?

Ah right I see, hmm...dunno what to do now then....might still do it n give it a go  Will it not just give a lot more power though?

Nothing I just wondered, so you have more experience than me so you would know more about it than I would to, ha. I only passed in January so don't have much experience quite, lol.

You know a lot about VW's then?

No your missing the point i think...the 6n2's 16v's come in 75bhp AND 100bhp, but the 100bhp's are really rare. The majoirty of 6n2 1.4 16v's on here will be 75bhp, and they are slow believe me. The 6n 1.4 16v IS 100bhp, which is a quick little car.

How old are you, if you dont mind me asking? Insurance shouldnt b too much of a problem for a girl especially if you are over 18. I'd get the GTi because you can pick them up quite cheap actually and I think your getting a much better car overall for the money, with the disc brakes all round, climate control and air con on some, the better looking chrome dials, leather in some, and it'll be quicker to begin with.I'm sure there are other bonuses but I havnt driven a GTi so cant advise you.

Ahhhh I see what you mean then...I didnt realise that 6n2 valver was only 75bhp...I thought they were 100bhp as well....hmmm.....I will have to reconsider now....but I like the 6n2 in colour and style better though...I dunno, lol.

I turn 21 on Tuesday :) what group do they come under for the GTi's , do you know by any chance ? :s

Ah I see...yeah the GTi are much nicer but everyone has one of those, lol, I am trying to be diffferent if I can, lol. haha but in the wrong way though I reckon, haha. :(

What car you have ?

Laura :)

happy birthday for tuesday w00t

Tom,

Have you drove a valver, either a 6n or a 6n2 valver?!?

Laura

happy birthday for tuesday w00t

Lol, awwww thanks :D

You know a lot about VW's then?

I know more than I used to before I joined this site.

I bought my first Polo when I was 19, Mk3 1.0 coupe, fell in love with it and joined this site soon after. Since then I have read up on and researched anything VW, I just love them.

But I'm just an amature compared to alot of the members on here.

And Happy 21st Birthday for Tuesday! I celebrated my 21st not too long ago too :)

Ahhh, to be 21 again

I still felt young then

Welcome :D

Yea I've driven a 6n valver 100bhp and it was quick, dont get the 6n2 16v if your trying to be different, GTi's are 'rarer' than them trust me lol how many GTi's do you see on the streets?

Happy birthday too

Depends where in the country you are. I see quite a few 6n2 GTI's on my daily drive but no 6n 16v's.

But aren't the 6n2 100bhp versions pretty rare too?

Well put it this way I see more 6n2 GTi than I see any of the 6n or 6n2 valvers so thats way I had considered getting a valvers instead :) Yeah I am after getting a 6n2 Valver 100bhp....as I know that they are quick ish :) I believe!

Thanks for the birthday wish :)
