So....number 2 topic - not about poo before anyone feels the need to pipe up with a funny! Just my 2nd topic....

I now am in possession of a dragon green 6n 1.4 16v which I'm quite taken by & relativley impressed seeing as how much of a challenge it had to live upto on my previous car but now after a week of owning I find it too slow. I've had a few general thoughts & any aspect of mechanical work won't phase me having done a 2 year motorsport engineering course & now work in the trade so here's what I've thought & I'd really love some feedback on ideas such as pros & cons + any other suggestions would be welcome. Also - having the car off the road for a few days won't bother me as I have plenty of access to other cars including some very fun Japanese monsters.

ENGINE/INTAKE/EXHAUST

-Sourcing a 2nd cylinder head for a re-con & port/polish/skim, does anyone know where hi lift cams for 1.4 16v can be sourced from?

-CDA or whatever they're called carbon intake systems, they seem fairly decent from reading up on them.

-Making up a de-cat seeing as nobody seems to sell them for a 6N, suggestions for manifolds & cat back systems..subtle prefered seeing as I'm not into loud noises for no reason.

BRAKES/SUSPENSION/WHEELS

-Roughly about a 30mm drop with Eibach springs all round seeing as the standard shocks seem to be pretty good as they're are - just plenty of body roll & feels like a van in comparison to my 106.

-H&R uprated front roll bar.

-6N2 GTi rear axle for the discs & roll bars, have read these are pretty much a straight swap?

-6N2 GTi wheels - just because they're bloody gorgeous to look at! Does anyone know what the standard tyre size is for these?

-Black diamond braided hose kit.

-Black diamond discs all round (once the 6N2 axle goes in).

-Uprated brake pads but unsure on what to go for as have had bad experiences with green/red/poo stuff before.

Obviously quite a big list but with a little cash & a lot of hard work shouldn't be too hard to achieve.

Feedback & opinions please? One thing though - if anyone says to me lexus lights, 20 inch "rimz" or a bodykit I will personally deliver a backhander across the face as hard as I can & as many times as it takes to draw blood.

What engine was your 106 mate as the 1.4 16v should kill most apart from maybe the XS and GTI 106's.

High lift cams for the 16v can be sourced from VW themselves as they still do the Group N cams I believe.

The CDA won't do much apart from noise although may do more if you have a P&P cylinder head.

Thats all I can comment on I think for now.

Don't worry about any lexarse lights or gay body kit comments. Most guys on here are pretty decent and like lowering and small wide wheels. I.e. the closer to the deck the better :)

The engine was one I built myself - an 8v 1.4 XSi with high lift cams, vernier, enlarged valves, steel+forged+balanced bottom end on a 1.1 box

That was saved from the car before it was cubed - not too sure on its overall condition since the smash but its sitting in my Dad's garage now untill I can get a stand for it to inspect the impact damage to the internals.

The front suspension & brakes were destroyed and I couldn't get the car off the ground to take off the rear axle but they're no great loss as they can be easily sourced again.

I'm making a trip down to my local VW tomorrow so I shall enquire into the group N cams. Any ideas on what might be a bit better than instead of CDA without taking the route of forced induction or trumpets just yet?
