Mk2 Jetta GTI

Featured Replies

The car is a 1992 8v model. I bought the car in January 07. It was resprayed by the previous owner in a bright orange Fiat colour. The respray was only carried out on the outside of the car and on the inside of the doors and bonnet. So the engine bay and interior are still the original dark blue colour.

The car has done around 120k miles. However, i had to change the clocks, as the previous ones stopped working. The new clocks are from a 16v golf showing 109k miles.

The MOT runs out in January 09. The car is declared SORN at the moment, as i haven't used it since september 07. It is kept in a dry garage at the moment.

Engine and Transmission

The engine is standard 1.8 GTI engine with Digifant injection .the engine is still strong and pulls well. The head gaskit was replaced June 07. Exhaust middle box was replaced during MOT. There is a K&N panel filter and the airbox is drilled with a cold air feed running to it.

The clutch has started slipping a little. i dont use the car but it slipped once when i drove it last christmas on the road.

There is a bit of a grinding noise coming from the alternator. i think it's a bit of metal next to the alternator rubbing on the alternator. it's been doing this since last year and hasn't caused any problems. I can have a look at this and tighten it up.

sometimes when the car has been standing for a while it revs high when first started. i think it's a sticking throttle. after a minute this problem does not occure.

Paint work

The bodywork is in pretty much immaculate condition. there is no rust on the bodywork and the paint shines so brightly in the sun.

There is a small scrape on the rear passenger side door (see pics) where someone decided to bash their door into it. It's only about 1cm in length and isn't noticable.

Exterior

The car has an old school thin slatted grill with original black vw badge.

Side indicators have been replaced with gti badges. i have the side indicators on at the moment.

GTI deep front lip spoiler

Old-school thick side strips and spats and small bumpers.

The car has a non-gti bootlid without the spoiler.

There are m3 style rear lights.

Interior

The car has no back seats and has been MOT'd as a 2 seater. I just couldn't get hold on rear jetta seats, so it's been like that since i bought it last year.

The front seats are from my previous car, a 1990 16v golf Gti. They are in very good condition. The drivers side bolster has a small rip which has been sewed up by the previous owners. No fag burns or other rips.

The centre console has the old-school tape holders.

There is no stereo included, as that will be taken out for my next car.

The current stereo head unit has been relocated to the glovebox to hide it away a bit.

The front windows are electric. They're quite slow but they work.

The rear drivers side door won't open from the outside for some reason. I had to replace the door handle with a front, lockable handle, as the old handle was a crappy fake, which snapped in half.

Overall, the interior is in good condition. The door cards are clean but one of the speaker covers is missing.

Wheels and suspension

The car is lowered on shocks and springs. i think it's lowered around 50-60mm as it's not too low with 15" wheels on. i've no idea what make the shocks and springs are though. The ride is quite stiff but not too bumpy.

The wheels are currently 15" BBS RA's. These are off my old golf and are in pretty good condition. They have a little bit of kerbing but nothing major.

The rear tyres have a lot of tread in them and the front drivers side is brand new. The front passenger side will need replacing soon though.

i'm after a quick sale on this car

£1250 ono

If there's any questions or anything i've missed then pm me or email me. my email address is seedster70@hotmail.com. The car is kept at my Dad's house, which is 30mins away, so I can get over there and check anything for anyone.

The car is based near Chester, Cheshire
