Mk2 Golf Driver 1.8

Featured Replies

1992 golf driver 1.8 8v. aprox.75k miles.

the car is not used anymore by me and has been stored in a dry garage for the past two years. it has no mot or tax. there's a big hole in the inner wing that need welding or replacing in order to mot it. i resprayed the car with red oxide primer but did a quick job without taking off the window rubbers or windows. so it's not too good.

i just want a quick, cheap sale

engine and transmission.

the engine is pretty strong and healthy and strong. it pulls really well. it hasn't been run too often so it could do with a good service. it smoked a bit when i started it the other day but that was after standing around for about 4months.

there is a webber carb and manual choke on it which is in excellent condition. this also has an ITB airfilter on it. i also have the original pierburg carb which will be thrown in although it's a little bit broken.

there is an fk backbox on the car which is quite loud and deep.

The gearbox is excellent with no crunches or anything. the clutch was replaced when i bought the car has done around 3k miles.

the exhaust blows somewhere around the middle section.

wheels

the wheels are 7x15, they have ATS centre caps but i'm not sure of they are ATS. they have a bit of paint on them from the respray so could do with a refurb. the back tyres have lots of grip but are really high profile. the front have no grip and need replacing.

suspension is standard.

Exterior

the exterior is in god condition. there's no rust other than the hole in the inner wing (see pics).

i painted the outside of the car with red oxide primer. it used to be white.

i didn't sand the car down too perfectly so the paints a bit ratty. there's some bit that i didn't spray like under the window rubbers, around the sunroof.

i tried to delete the holes from the side strips and did it badly. so they could do with being put back on.

it's had a new door and has a debadged grill. the wing mirrors need putting back on and so do the rubber strips on the roof. (i have both of these)

i have the indicater lenses and badges for it too.

because i didn't take the windows off the car when spraying it, they have some over spray on them. i guess this can be cleaned off with some elbow grease.

interior

the car has GTI front seats that i picked up at a scrapyard. they're in mint condition. the rear seats are standard.

there are leather rear doorcards are leather and are in mint condition.

the car would be a good project or just used as spares. either way, i really don't want to scrap it.

£250 for the car.

price dropped to £200 on this. it's smoking quite badly, (possibly the valve stem seals), but still pulls well. i need it gone ASAP, as it's at my dad's house and he is moving down south in the next couple of weeks.

please someone buy it. i'm stripping the parts i can sell off it next week if not, and the rest is getting scrapped. i'll probably make more than £200 but i dont want to see it scrapped.

Take it to the scrap yard.

Remove the alloys and tyres . they'll weigh in for £20

The car should make £160 over the weighbridge

Simple way to £180. :-D

yep i will be scrapping it by the looks of things. do they usually give you that sort of money if you get it taken away by scrapping people? cos i need to take the carb off it and sell that first.
