I was less than £200 to get my old Mk3 MOT'd and that needed brake pipes and shit all over the shop!

i spoke to the guy on the phone, was quite a hefty list

fookin hell 750 quid is a bit excessive, is that at vw? whats the labour charge per hour? if its london I'm guessing its 70 quid plus or something? means 5 hours work will cost you silly amounts, its about 30 quid an hour up these ways

Ditto. Mine had all its brake pipes replaced except one, wheel cylinder and brake shoes. That was about £180 all in including the MOT fee itself.

did the bloke give you a Fail sheet? If so and if you want of corse send me a PM with the fail items on it and i will be able to tell you what you need replacing and how much it should cost you for a repair.

I would also say take the car to another MOT'er, For example my dad was had his vauxhaul fail its mot, due to 4 faulty shocks, 3 faulty brake, warped discs, corroded brake lines blah blah blah. he drove it 10 minutes down the road and it passed withought even an advisory?

i go to a guy called pat his garage is directly behind the GSF in trafford park. will check them out when I'm next down and ask the lads at gsf what they reckon of them. cheers for the info lad

nah not at all mate, i love sound mot'rs, the guy behind trafford park has always sorted me rock bottom prices and is proper down to earth and takes care of my car like its his own, cos id kick his ass otherwise, but if the other garage is more lenient then ill be going there

it wasnt it VW, it's at courtwood garage, homerun company down the road, always gone there, we even are friends with the family who runs it...will post more detials when I have em!

post up what is written on the fail sheet, they did give you one didn't they? If they didn't, go to a different garage ASAP!

no offence, disks, drums, pads, shoes, cylinders, lines, and master cylinder + labour should be about half of that.

the garage i used to work in would have done an engine change, supplying a decent engine for alot less than that.

id seriously go elsewhere..

if not do it yourself..

if you arnt mechanically minded, get a friend and a haynes manual.. polos are one of the easiest cars to do mechanical and basic repairs too..
