Hey, cheers for the comments.

What does the 6 and 6n mean?

I'm after a Mk 4 1.4 16v, not to fussed about the colour to be honest

The Mk4 is also refered to as the 6n mate as that is the chassis number...well the start of it anyway.

Lol, sorry, yeah

6n is a MK 4 polo

6n2 is MK 5 polo

I was told it ages ago from a mate as he said there is no different between them both or suma but VW decided to call it 6n and 6n2, gay I know, lol.

Oh well you shouldn't have too much of a problem at finding a MK 4 polo valver then, I'm finding it difficult to find a 6n2 polo valver but thats cos I am after a red one, lol, I'm being fussy but its only cos I am gonna do it as a project to start with, ha.

You got any plans on yours when you get hold of one then?

ohright, sweet cheers for explaining that.

Plans for it are, slam it, nice deep dish wheels, subtle little mods, and keep it nice and clean

What sort of price am i looking at for a good standard 6n 1.4 16v with about 60k on clock?

alraaaaaaaaaaaate, welcome to the club

You'll be looking at between £1-2K for a decent Mk4 valver. I wouldn't worry about milage too much, they are tough cars if kept right. Mine is on 123K miles and still feels tight as a drum :)

Yeah I'm pretty shocked with some of the mileage's iv seen, they must be strong little motors.

I was thinking about getting a lupo, but heard they have loads of major problems. Does the mk4 polo have any major problems, like gearbox or anything?

Gearbox can go if you don't keep an eye on the oil level in the box but should be fine really.

Welcome :-)

There is actually a difference, the 6n2 is the facelifted version of the 6n with a completely different interior and some minor exterior changes afaik. Just look at pics and you will clearly see differences.

Like I said in a different thread, the Mk5 is actually 70% new

Yeah th car itself is different but the shape of the car is no different really!!

Just the 6n2 are much nicer than the 6n polos but not sure if they are as reliable as each other though?!?

hmmm i prefer 6ns, each to there own i guess..
